    Hi,

We are using GeoDirectory on our site here: https://www.bsge.org.uk/centre/

An issue has been identified where a search for the term ‘Kent’ is displaying no results.

But there is a centre within Kent, here: https://www.bsge.org.uk/centre/maidstone-and-tunbridge-wells-nhs-trust/

We’ve tried all kinds of debugging but have been unable to resolve this error.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

    Kind regards, Colin

It looks like you have your default search distance set to 5.

Try setting it higher like 20 or 40 in the setting at

GeoDirectory – Search – Default search radius

Let us know how it goes

    Hi Alex,

That setting was already set to 40, I have also tried it with that field left empty so that there are no search limits and still it can not find ‘Kent’.

    Kind regards,

    Colin

    Hello,

I do not see any obvious reasons besides out of date plugins.

please install WP Easy Updates to license and update your addons. Your site’s core GeoDirectory plugin is behind a version also.

The search radius is set to 100 miles, but does not appear to be including listings within that radius. Even a search of London at the radius should return the listing you are looking for.

After you update we will take another look.

    Hi Alex,

I have updated both to the latest versions, same issue appearing on search results.

    Kind regards,

    Colin

    Hi,

the problem seem to be either

    1. the “United Kingdom” value in Add location specific text to (Near) search for Google is not taking effect OR
    2. The search radius is not having an effect

The developers have been alerted and will post here when they have an update.

    Hello Colin,

I looked into your site settings & template system. I see you have modified GeoDirectory templates and placed in your theme. On template file “listing-filter-form.php” which is used in search form.
You have used static field for distance with value “5”. So whenever search submitted it finds the listings within this range for latitude/longitude retrieved from Google for “Kent”.

Increasing this limit from “5” to “15” shows “Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust Endometriosis Centre” in the results.

    thanks,
    Kiran

    Hi Kiran,

Thank you so much for that, had been driving me mad.

We’ve had a developer now apply a fix for that!

    Kind regards, Colin
