Hi,

I see that there are a couple of things that can be done to customize the home page search area, one of them is adding text

.sd-homepage .geodir-search:after {
content:”My Custom Text”;
color:#fff!important;
width: 100%!important;
}

However, I can’t find a way to add links instead of plain text. Basically, what I wanted was to add some static links to some of my key categories.

Try adding the GD Popular Categories widget or CPT Categories widget:

Hi Guust,

Popular Categories works, but then I must restrict my categories to those I really want to show, and work with sub-categories. I encountered some limitations then, like the default image and logo, which resort to the main category ones.
Is there any way I can add some custom code beneath the search bar?

Yes, you should be able to, use a text widget and add your custom code.
Without seeing your site, and knowing what theme etc you are using, there is nothing else I can add.
