    Hi, how can i do set up a faceted search using custom fields to filter listings? I read in an old forum it was possible to do thru advanced search but the link there is a dead one.
    Also if i want to put the filters in a left sidebar insted of the top search bar, how can i do that?

    What we have is the option to add custom fields to the Advanced Search options tray. You can find available options on the search tab of the CPT.

    You can add a GD Search widget with the option tray set to open as a shortcode or Widget.

    Thanks very much, Alex – that is very helpful.

    Is there also a way to do layered/faceted navigation with custom fields, instead of search, ie the content gets filtered on making the selection without having to click the search button?
    Can custom fields be added to menus and used for filtering ?

    The options available are in the CPT settings, linked above.

    You can of course add a menu link to a search results URL for a field value.
