We have over 750 categories that we created before we upgraded our site from v1 to v2 and are now using the v2 Supreme Directory.
We have main categories such as “Restaurant” and then a bunch of “Subcategories” under the main category such as “Asian, Mexican, Greek, Italian, Chinese” restaurants and most of our categories & subcategories were created and structured this way.
We also added an Identifier ” * ” using a star in front of our Featured Categories so that it would be at the very top of every “Subcategory” to make it easy for the business owner to find and select if they were paying to be Featured in that category.
It seems since we’ve made the GD upgrade from v1 to v2 our categories and subcategories are no longer in the order we created them….and furthermore, I cannot tell if the subcategories using the ” * ” identifier are still set as Featured.
Can someone please explain to me how to make sense of this so that we have Featured Subcategories only showing up in the Paid Listing Package and how to ensure that the listings are being Featured above the other listings that are not Featured….?
Thank you,

Where? Add listing page?
As with GDv1 you exclude categories from packages that you don’t want to be selectable from the packages, the packages screen is under the CPT>Settings>Packages now.
You have many options for sorting listings, you can read about featured sorting here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/featured-listings/#sorting
Thanks,

March 8, 2019 at 6:12 pm #473614Hi Stiofan,
Thank you for sharing this link on sorting…I don’t seen anything in our admin dashboard that shows CPT – Settings – Sorting. I see GeoDirectory – Settings but no “Sorting” option.
Please explain where this is found?
Thank you,
RobertMarch 8, 2019 at 6:37 pm #473622Hi Robert,
CPT is an acronym for Custom Post Type, so for places its under Places>Settings>Sorting and for Events its under Events>Settings>Sorting
Thanks,
Stiofan

March 8, 2019 at 8:06 pm #473651Let me go thru and double check my category names to make sure all was successfully migrated over from v1 to v2. I’ll keep you posted.
Thank you,

What URL / Link can I use to add for business owners once they login to see their Dashboard / Overview? I’m still not seeing that option as logged in as a business owner myself. Please explain.
Thank you,

for an overview of your categories consider exporting them to see them all in a spreadsheet.
To get links for the user dashboard add the GD Dashboard widget to a sidebar. Then you and the other business owners can click on the links to find their listings.

Please open a new topic if you have more inquiries.
Thanks 🙂
