For the Search Bar – Have Drop Down List of Regions and Cities instead of typing

    HI guys,
    What would be involved in making the GD search bar (and indeed widget) have 2 drop down lists (kind of like the Location Switcher).. one with Region and when you select that the next one with City fills with all cities in that region. This is one of my biggest requirements… has it been done before and what would be involved.

    I don’t like the fact that visitors have to type in their location in the search bar… selecting region then city would really be great.

    Hello Adrian, the search bar also allows user to insert Zip code as well, you could use the Feature Requests thread and submit this suggestion.

    Thanks Simone. We don’t have ZIP codes in Ireland unfortunately so it doesn’t really work for me. The functionality of Region and city being dependant on each other for selection is already available in some part in the location selector on the main menu…. I am wondering would there be much involved in getting similar in the search bar. I would be willing to pay for this customisation depending on the price I guess. Thanks for everything.

    OK, how many developers will look at this board? Wondering how long I might have to wait. My requirement is:

    Edit the GD Search bar (or perhaps create a new plugin as a copy of it) to have 2 new dependant drop down lists… 1) Region 2) City so the person can select their Region and City.

    I would be happy with 2 new tables called “wp_dropdown_region” and “sp_dropdown_city” for this so that I could fill these with Regions and Cities manually…. the contents of each would be valid locations according to Google.

    Hoping for a quote on this!

    Do Odesk have people experienced in this plugin?

    Hello Adrian, I don’t know if GD developer are in odesk or elance, this board would be the first place where to find gd developers.
    forth other side, i think this is doable for developer good in js / php /mysql who can “read” the code 🙂
