hi,
1) in free search, i entered a word (yoga) and it gave me 1 result despite having this word in two listings. it’s as it it showed me only the listing with this word in tags, and not in description or category or whatever.
2) how do i NOT show ALL details of a listing in the results (or anywhere for that matter). is it only hiding in css? or can i choose anywhere what to show and not show there.site:
http://www.outofsite.biz/yogabeware, it’s in hebrew 🙂
you can try search word יוגה
thanks!

August 28, 2016 at 10:32 am #2545911) This explains how the search works: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-design/#how

August 28, 2016 at 11:39 am #254656hey,
thanks 🙂
already read those before.
in (1) i wasn’t refering to the location search, but to the tag search. the bar next to the location search searches only within tags. can’t i make it a free search? for example, if a listing has the word “yoga” in the category, of in a free text area – I want it to find it.
and (2) – i wasn’t refering to the widgets in the sidebar, but to the actual content of the grid (NOT the content of the listing page, but the content of the results grid that appear after search – image attached)and while i’m at it:
3) when i translate the site (using WPML, as i understand it’s the only plugin you are compatible with), can the listing be translated from the FES form (meaning, by the user in the frontend), or only by admin in the backend?
thanks again.

August 28, 2016 at 12:20 pm #2546611) The link is not only about the location search:
GD will check the entry titles, description and taxonomies (tags and categories) of the listings.
Post the URL of the listing you are trying to find and we can have a look. It is possible that the issue is the hebrew so be specific about what you are trying to search for and what you expect to find.
Also, the problem might be that your site is in a subdirectory matching the word you are looking for.2) Look at the link again and look for “Show on listing page”.
3) WPML is only required if you want a site in more than one language. If a user wants to submit a listing in a specific language, he has to choose that language first.
But your site does not seem to be multi-lingual, so then there is no need for WPML.
Your users can add a listing here: http://outofsite.biz/yoga/add-listingI hope I understood your questions correctly. Thanks.
August 28, 2016 at 12:25 pm #254691hey,
thanks again 🙂1) i understand it’s looking only in tags and titles. my question is can it search outside of those, meaning – it would be a free search within ALL elements of the listing.
2) again – i’m not worried about the listing page (as i have mentioned above). i’m worried about the GRID OF RESULTS, like in the picture i’ve attached in the previous reply. the grid shows picture, title, verbose info, etc. I know I can control the listing page, I know I can control the widget in the side bar. But where can I control the content of the listing appearing in the RESULTS GRID?
3) I’m still not multilingual, but I am planning to be once the site is done. This is why I’m asking. My question is really if users can be shown on more than 1 language with only 1 listing.
thanks once more! 🙂

August 28, 2016 at 12:39 pm #2546921) titles, description and taxonomies (tags and categories), not only tags and titles.
Cannot search anywhere else like custom fields.2) Have another read, it is there: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-place-settings/#show-on-listing-page
Setting this to YES will add this field to the relevant Listing and Search page.
Go to your custom field you want to show or not and change that setting.3) WPML just creates a different site if you have different languages. So a user will have to submit the listing in all languages if he wants to be listed in all languages.
August 28, 2016 at 12:42 pm #2547101) gotcha, ok.
2) ok. i want it on the listing page, but not on the grid. guess i’ll have to css it out then. thanks.
3) cool. it will be different listing then, if i understand.
thanks for all the help!
August 28, 2016 at 12:51 pm #2547112) Listing page is the page with the grid; I think you are mixing up detail and listing page. There is no grid on the detail page for each listing, only on the listing/category or search pages.
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/layout/#directoryAugust 28, 2016 at 12:54 pm #254712exactly. i’m talking about the grid is search results (as mentioned a few times)
August 28, 2016 at 1:04 pm #254713To NOT show ALL details of a listing in the results, go to your custom field you want to hide and change the setting “Show on listing page” to NO. Have you tried it already? There is no need for CSS (but you can use CSS if you prefer).
Or do you want it different on search pages like
http://outofsite.biz/yoga/?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_place&s=+&snear=&sgeo_lat=&sgeo_lon=
than listings/category pages like
http://outofsite.biz/yoga/teachers/studio/In that case it will have to be CSS.
August 28, 2016 at 1:06 pm #254714but I want to to show on listing page, dude. just NOT on the search results grid.
August 28, 2016 at 1:15 pm #254715In that case it will have to be CSS. I just was trying to make sure you were not confusing the detail page with the listing pages.
August 28, 2016 at 1:15 pm #254716🙂
thanks. what i thought. -
