Unless you just logged into our site and fixed something, we have a odd fluke.
But all Addons are now installed.I went to the forum, logged out and back in to verify name and password.
Then went to autoupdate, deleted the same user name and password that was just
used to successfully update the core plugin, but the others failed right after.Typed in the same user and PW, then tried the updates again, it work.
I can’t explain it, maybe you can. But it works now.
Now I will test a few functions of the site. Hopefully my description length will magically be fixed. Thanks for your prompt attention.
June 26, 2014 at 9:57 pm #6368there is no file Manilaboy, I thought you had the file in the child theme because it was throwing an error and we have changed some template files.
1 file was still called with the old name and throwing error.
We are fixing it, there will be another update in 1 minute.
June 26, 2014 at 10:07 pm #6372Thank you, Paolo. I will wait for that update and let you know if it works. Again, feel free to login and test my site if needed.
June 26, 2014 at 10:13 pm #6373Hi Paolo,
I just updated (Core and Framework) but search still doesn’t work. Are more updates coming up?
June 26, 2014 at 10:44 pm #6379Working now.
Two settings problems, you had 500 miles as search radius, if someone is searching something “Near” a specific place, why would you want him to get results from 500 miles away?
Giving such a big radius was making the query fail. I set 40 miles which is more than reasonable for a proximity search.
Sorting fields. You had Featured set as default. That was making the Buena Park result go down to 5th position…
If you want results by proximity, there shouldn’t be a default sorting option (like now on your website)…
Thx
June 26, 2014 at 10:48 pm #6380Thank you, Paolo. I have that 500 mile radius before the update. I tried 10, 40, 100, 500 and even left it blank for unlimited but it didn’t work.
Try being in a city and do a search. For example, go to Buena Park via location switcher and search for Long Beach which has more than 1 listing. You will only see Buena Park.
I thought GD Search works whether you are currently set to Everywhere or in a single city.
Is this a bug too?
June 26, 2014 at 10:53 pm #6381GD search only in the location selected.
Changing the location is like changing website… You are using the search form of the Buenavista Park directory.
Hope it’s clear…
June 26, 2014 at 10:59 pm #6382Thank you, Paolo. I can see that and I think it’s another weakness of the search function especially when it is portrayed as “Near”. If it’s designed to work only in the city where the user is, “Near” will be misleading. Perhaps it should say something else like In This City Only.
Will you be searching “Near Buena Park” if you’re already in Buena Park or 90620 if you’re already in that Postal or Zip Code? 🙂
June 26, 2014 at 11:06 pm #6383Try to see the big picture… you can search near a particular street or a zip code.
June 26, 2014 at 11:11 pm #6384Exactly!
If I am already in Buena Park (90620) and search another Zip Code (and cities have more than one zip code), nothing will show up but listings in the city or zip code that I am already in. It doesn’t show listings that are “Near” the zip code I just entered.
In short, it only works like this – Show Me Listings Near 90703 but only listings in 90620 (my current zip code) show up and ignore listings in 90703 which is at the border of 90620.
Again, the restrictive single city geolocation and location switcher defeats the 40 mile search radius setting at the backend.
We cannot expect users to know that they need to switch to Everywhere.
June 26, 2014 at 11:33 pm #6385I am in seriou trouble, my app is linked to permanlink of places, and after i merged some locations, the link changed to
(http://ondemalhar.com.br/places/brazil/maranhao-1/imperatriz-1/musculacao/radical-fitness-shopping/)The problem is that this news charcters “-1” come up after State and Cities, and this blocked and changed the link to load the datas inside the app.
How can i solve this.
If i upgrade for the new pluggin will solve this?June 27, 2014 at 12:09 am #6386Hi Paolo,
I added the advance search option and it didn’t work either. Now my “geolocated” users will see options to search for listings up to 300 miles from their location and still see no results in the city or zip code they just entered in the search input field.
I am in Buena Park, searched for listings in Long Beach and chose 100 miles in the advance search option and I only see Buena Park listings although 3 listings are in Long Beach.
June 27, 2014 at 12:42 am #6389Manilaboy,
it works. It doesn’t work as you wish. It’s different, please refrain from using the words bugs and doesn’t work…
If you are in buena park you can look for streets, if you are in any city with more than 1 zip, you can look for places around that zip within that city.
Thanks,
June 27, 2014 at 1:50 am #6401none of my add-on plugin will update either
