    Dear Support team,

after taking the starting tour and getting an idea about how GD works, I’ll try to start to define the categories for the project and I feel, that I need your help 🙂

The directory will be used just for a specific profession/business like kundalini yoga just in one state of the country. The Places are in this case the rooms, where the kundalini yoga courses take place.

Some teachers/authors/users do not have their own Places/rooms and they will offer their courses in a yoga center/place belonging to another user. But the community behind the directory is made up of all teachers/users and do have all equal rights, and want all to be listed in the directory. I see here potential for problems, how should I manage this ?

And some of them they do not have any room/Place but they offer for just one or several times a workshop/event in a temporary location, which is actually not part of the Places locations and after the workshop they will be just spam for the map. They want all to be in a way part of the directory even without a stable Place/room for the workshop. Should they be present like a teacher/Place with their own private address? Can I trick this and use a work around for this?

I think all this has to do with the hierarchy and definition of the categories at the start of the project?

Let me tell you more about the categories and how should the directory work. The visitors will search for:
-yoga courses for students (permanent places)
-courses for yoga teacher formations (permanent places)
-courses with workshop character or other events (permanent and/or temporary places)

    Courses/Places
    – courses
    — kundalini yoga
    — yoga for children
    — yoga with a certain topic
    — …
    – formations
    — yoga teacher level 1
    — yoga teacher level 2
    — …
    – workshops (they have more event character, but some of them take place repeatedly at the same place)
    — gong meditation
    — mantra chanting

Different course, formation or workshop categories can be found at the same location/room/Place. Courses, formations and workshops will have different map icons but not the subcategories.

    Events
    – kundalini yoga workshops
    – gong meditation
    – mantra chanting
    – …
    – all the course and formation categories (by adding a new one or changing one)
    – events for the whole state (which can take place in a permanent or temporary place)
    – nationwide events (they do not have locations in the state)

And not to forget the different teacher categories:
    – course teacher
    – teacher formation teacher
    – single course teacher
    – teacher with own yoga center
    – regional teacher community

I do not really need them to search for (maybe just for yoga center places and regional teacher communities), but I have to consider these categories from the begin too.

I’m a little bit confused, how to start with the categories. You have a lot of experience with directory projects, how should I think and define the categories to be conform with the functional concept of GD directory ?

Thank you for the good documentation, unfortunately I’ll still have some forum questions, but first help me to adapt the kundalini yoga community of one single state to the concept of GD directory.

    Greetings, Marius

Hi Marius, I’ll have a go at giving some tips and suggestions.

    1. 2 CPTs: Places and Events
    2. Places will be for permanent listings like centres
    3. Allow any user to add an event to any “place”, so different teachers can add events at the same place.
    4. You can use UsersWP for your users to create a profile.
    5. So for example a teacher creates a profile like this: https://wpgeo.directory/docs/profile/docs/listings/events/
    6. And then adds an event to a place like this: https://wpgeo.directory/docs/events/italy/lombardy/milan/events/pizza-night-at-zavino-pizzeria-and-wine-bar/

    Thanks
