I have created several CPTs: Biz & Pro Directory, Real Estate.
Q#1: Is it possible that when “users” select a different CPT than Places>(they select Biz & Pro Directory) for the Categories to display as Popular Categories be Biz & Pro Directory categories, not Places’ categories?
April 14, 2016 at 5:48 pm #163451Hi,
I’m not sure I understand the question, that how it normally works.
Please provide links where we can see what you mean.
Thanks
April 14, 2016 at 5:55 pm #163458This is the default view> http://www.supremecityguides.com/location/united-states/florida/miami/ as it defaults for Places, right?
The GD Content section displays Popular Places Listings.
My question is> Is it possible that when “users” select another CPT e.g. Biz & Professionals for the GD Content section to display Popular Biz & Professional Listings only-not Places Listings?
Hope I made it clearer this time!
April 14, 2016 at 8:31 pm #163492Hi,
the 2 things are not connected, this is not possible.
Thanks
April 14, 2016 at 8:36 pm #163496With all due respect I need to say that this set-up “does not make sense”.
Why display Popular Places listings when the “user” is searching for other categories!April 14, 2016 at 8:40 pm #163498Hi,
that is a location home page made with widgets that display static content. The CPT select is part of the search form, it doesn’t automatically change the content in the widgets section below.
Thanks
April 14, 2016 at 8:47 pm #163501Obviously you know by now that I don’t understand your world. If you created the GeoDirectory you are brilliant. I am not. All I’m saying is that it does not make sense that this is set-up like this-from a user point of view.
Q> Is there a way to be able to show the Popular listings corresponding to the CPT the user has selected?
April 14, 2016 at 8:58 pm #163506I already replied to that question:
the 2 things are not connected, this is not possible.
BTW, it seems to make sense to almost everyone here, because nobody ever raised this issue.
Thanks
April 14, 2016 at 9:02 pm #163510Sorry I think like a “user” ….
April 14, 2016 at 9:34 pm #163524If you change the CPT in the Popular Category widget and click on any of the category links, you will be taken to the correct category. But the content of the current location page cannot change. You need to click on a link if you want to go somewhere else.
I thought we had given this link before: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/layout/#directory
GD Home page
This page is the home page for each of the locations in your GD installation (including countries, regions and cities).
Normally, you’d want the map in the top section, as you see at the GD demo.GD Listings page
This is the template that will display a list of all listings in a particular category or custom post type, and will show different listings depending on location and category requested.
Examples:
yoursite.com/attractions will show all listed attractions
yoursite.com/hotels/finland will show all listed hotels in FinlandApril 14, 2016 at 11:45 pm #163552Guust, really appreciate you going the “extra mile” and trying to help me understand GeoDirectory.
I have studied the links you provided but before I make any changes I want to be sure that if I delete any widgets to see what happens I can easily restore them back if its not what I thought it was or don’t like how it looks.
Q1: Yes, No?
Q2: If yes, how?Q3: Is it possible to delete the following from the GD Top section-Home Page-http://www.supremecityguides.com and from the GD Top section-Location Pages e.g http://www.supremecityguides.com/location/united-states/florida/miami/ :
Delete the Search Box and
Delete the Popular CategoriesIf Yes, How?
Jorge
April 15, 2016 at 2:56 pm #163754Q1) Yes you can delete the widgets.
Q2) To restore the widget you have to drag and drop that widget again to that particular widget location
Q3) YesGo here
http://www.supremecityguides.com/wp-admin/widgets.php
Expand that widget (Ex: Popular Categories) and then click “Remove”
April 15, 2016 at 5:52 pm #164011Giri,
Anyone tell you -you look like Tom Cruise?
I tried to I.D. the GD Section to delete both the Search & Popular Categories to what I believe to be the GD Top Section but could not!
Above the MAP here> http://www.supremecityguides.com/location/united-states/florida/miami-beach/Could you please pinpoint which one to delete?
April 15, 2016 at 6:10 pm #164016That would be :Gd Home Top Section.
Please refer to the documentation: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/layout/
April 15, 2016 at 6:36 pm #164024That is what I thought it would be after reading the above documentation but when I open the GD Home Top Section the only 2 sections I see are:
1. The GMap and
2. The CPT Categories
which I do not want to delete. What I want not show/delete are:
1. The Search Box and
2. Popular Categories above the MAP and below Miami as in this page http://www.supremecityguides.com/location/united-states/florida/miami/ -
