    Hi guys,

We have all experimented that GD version HAS TO match add-ons ones in a way…
So my question is: in which way? 🙂

    1) Could we easily figure out (without testing) which add-ons versions can work with a particular GD version?
    2) Looking at release dates could help?
    3) Are the add-ons released coherently towards each other, and all able to work with a particular GD version?

    4) On security point of view, don’t you think it’s a problem to require an absolute “matching”?
Like for me: I am stucked with GD 1.6.7, since most of my add-ons (which ones? I don’t know! Would be good to find out…) does not work with 1.6.8. Thus, I keep seeing the 1.6.7 security alert for GD!

We all understand compatibility requirements. But in such security important update, it would be good to have security patches snippets.
Best: it would be fantastic to release a standard GD version each time, just dealing with security patches 🙂 (… having a thought for your kind members who bought the add-ons once and who are stucked in the past;()

Hence, from 1.6.7 to 1.6.9: is there any patch you can give us, or a standard version that could work with GD 1.6.7 comptabibles add-ones?

    Cheers,
    JJJ

    HI JJJ,

I’ll try answer ur questions below.

    1. Probably not, i can’t think of an easy way to do this without testing.
    2. Yes, but we have many addons, it could be very lengthily.
    3. When we do a release we have a release tests which we test all the latest versions, this can take many hours to test everything even if no problems are found.
    4. We have only ever had two security releases, one because of a WP bug and one in a WP sessions class we use, many in the wp plugin industry require you to be running the latest vers and only support this. We have agreed in future that is there is any other security releases we will provide a patch and instructions.

This is the pull that fixed the session problem https://github.com/GeoDirectory/geodirectory/commit/28481dc83ae4cbafbe9a2bdc7cfa0df6e24a5d48

    Thanks,

    Stiofan
