Hi,
Thanks very much…the sidebar works now….we are getting there…
But the places pages still have the default image as a banner. which should be the featured image right…) This place has for sure a feautured image:
http://www.globaldutchies.nl/accommodaties/curacao/curacao/willemstad-1/heerlijke-familie-villa-voor-8-personen/And the way the Places Page is set up (first the image slider etc) seems still to be the way the places page of the Directory starter theme. The demo of the Supreme theme looks quiet different..
And the pages still have the non existing sidebar
http://www.globaldutchies.nl/partners/ which should be the default sidebar right? Thanks!
January 5, 2019 at 6:25 pm #461715Hi Ria,
Thanks for your reply. I’ve fixed the banner image on this page http://www.globaldutchies.nl/accommodaties/curacao/curacao/willemstad-1/heerlijke-familie-villa-voor-8-personen/
As for this page http://www.globaldutchies.nl/partners/ , you can use this sidebar as shown in the attached screenshot.
Thanks!
January 6, 2019 at 3:11 pm #461816Hi thanks very much for all your help.
The non existing items in the sidebar are still there
http://www.globaldutchies.nl/partners/Since you suggest I use the Sidebar page area for my general pages…which area is now connected to the details page? What will happen when you release an upgrade of the theme?
In the meantime working on register possibilities I found another problem. See attached printscreen.
UserWP>formbuilder>register. Not possible to add new fields on the left side.
I tried to add USERWP > register in the footer 1 area. It wont show.Maybe I should make a new ticket about this, but since its related to sidebars and maybe to the problems you already fixed I added it here.
Do you think these problems are caused by working with different themes? If so…and this would obviously be my last choice, might it be better to delete the mother and child theme and re-install everything?
Thanks and Greetings!
January 6, 2019 at 3:25 pm #461818Hi Ria,
Thanks for your reply. You can use the “GD Sidebar” for the details page. The version of the theme can be considered stable and updates are normally for fixing minor bugs or stylings.
Thanks!

January 9, 2019 at 5:45 pm #462362Hi Kiran
Thanks. For now…do I have to create a file named output-functions.php and replace it with FTP in includes/custom-fields/ is that the idea? Thanks for your time
January 9, 2019 at 7:19 pm #462400Application of this patch can be done with line by line changes or as shown in this link https://make.wordpress.org/core/handbook/tutorials/working-with-patches/#2-applying-a-patch
Changes should be made to geodirectory/includes/custom-fields/output-functions.php
or you can wait for the next version of the plugin.
The next release should be coming out pretty quickly.
January 17, 2019 at 2:37 am #463626Hi everything was working fine…until I made some changes in the custom fields….and put a text area to show in the side bar…so when I did this, the textarea fields were again behaving very strangely in the side bar, same problem (see problem above in this tread).
Temporary solution. I deleted the new text areas for the moment, to get everything right.
But yes, I am going to need to add new text areas in the future, so it would be great if you could have a look at what is going wrong. Thanks
January 17, 2019 at 8:24 am #463679The new release will include the patch. It should be out any moment now, we are just finishing testing on it.
A note about textareas v2 text fields.
Textarea fields do not have a validation setting, so you cannot include a text/character limit on them.
If you want to make use of smaller blurbs of text like that I would recommend you use a text field and then set a character limit on them. That way you can make sure your listing owners don’t put in so much text that your page layout will break.
Here is how to do that: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/places/custom/#validation
