Is anyone hosting their site on WPengine. I am having trouble migrating my site. I have disabled the locator plugin which apparently is incompatible.
The migration works fine for a while but then fails with a 502 error which persists. I can still get into wp-admin and disable the plugins and when I do that it serves up pages again.
Their site is lightning fast compared to Godaddy shared hosting so I would love to get this resolved.

What do you mean with:
he migration works fine for a while but then fails with a 502 error
What steps are you taking to migrate your website?
we don’t really provide support with server migrations. However I believe the hosting provide does.
If you disable wpengine caching system the Location manager add-on will work just fine.
Thanks
November 17, 2015 at 10:02 pm #60646One of the reasons for going to WPengine is their caching optimized for WordPress. Is GDBooster better? My response times have improved dramatically.
I understand and the Wp Engine team is working on the problem.
WPengine has plugin which migrates the sit. It seems to work fine but after serving up maybe 50 pages it stops serving pages because they take too long to execute (error 502 Bad Gateway). I manage to get it working again by disabling the addon plugins except Geodirectory itself. I am working my way slow through enabling each and testing to see which one may be at fault.
Do you know of anyone who has successfully migrated to WP engine?
November 17, 2015 at 10:09 pm #60649HI,
there are plenty of members using wpengine. The caching system of WPengine is excellent, however it breaks PHP Sessions and it is to be used for normal websites or blog. Anything using Cookies or Session like a Ecommerce plugin or GeoDirectory it will not work properly. Reason why it is not comaptible with GD MultiLocations.
GD Booster is just as good if not better because it is optimiized for GeoDirectory.
Personally I would never use an automated system to migrate a website. Something like that can be good for normal blogs with only posts and pages.
Just move all your files from godaddy to wpengine and do a back up of your database and import it on the wpengine database.
It will take you less time and you won’t have problems.
Thanks
November 17, 2015 at 11:10 pm #60679According to WPengine tech support there is no way to disable caching except by special request for certain pages.
The problem seems to be with the child plugin. Does this error look like a caching problem to you?
It gets this error:[Tue Nov 17 22:35:14.919013 2015] [:error] [pid 21700] [client 66.162.212.19:39151] PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare geodir_list_view_select() (previously declared in /nas/wp/www/cluster-43109/johan/wp-content/plugins/geodirectory-plugin-child/geodirectory_child_plugin.php:1117) in /nas/wp/www/cluster-43109/johan/wp-content/plugins/geodirectory/geodirectory-functions/custom_functions.php on line 87

November 17, 2015 at 11:27 pm #60684Hi,
there shouldn’t be any /geodirectory-plugin-child/geodirectory_child_plugin.php.What is that? Did you create it?
November 18, 2015 at 8:02 am #60695Yes I did. Thanks Paolo….more than a bit embarrassed…Johan
