I realise this is a customisation but wanted to run it past you for comments as to feasibility and on how to specify it.
We have a website https://goodlocalevents.com which is currently standalone. It is largely GD with WC Bookings enabling booking functionality.
I have a number of cities who want their own similar standalone site with similar functionality to promote and allow bookings for their parks and open spaces — but just for their own local area. They want their own domain and will generate their own content.
My idea is we set up a WordPress Multisite where they each have their local site which can have its own domain or be at, say, timbuktu.goodlocally.com. We maintain the infrastructure and give them up identical CPTs within GD and some system for aggregating content from their local sites into a the goodlocally.com central site which lists all the events and venues.
My particular questions are
1) is this going to be difficult to achieve?
2) do we have to export the data (and can this be done)? or,
3) given this is a multisite setup could we tap into the data for the sub-site listing and aggregate it into the main site from the database so as not to have to maintain, correct and update multiple identical entries?May 3, 2018 at 2:26 pm #4289431. Yes
2. No, you can also use the API , which has been merged into core in V2.
3. That would be a significant customizationYou can add this as a feature request here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/requests/
It is ok to discuss the case in the forum and invite other members who need a similar feature to discuss and vote up the feature.

May 3, 2018 at 4:33 pm #428974There seem to be a couple of plugins which will transfer a CPT from a subsite to the main site (or anywhere else) in Multisite pretty much automatically on change from draft to published.
They certainly work for standard posts and pages. Until I get one in and try it I don’t know whether it will work with GD.
They may be a starting point we can work from even if they don’t get us there straight away. We will probably have a go over the weekend. Why did I know one of them would be WPMUDEV 😐 which I have been trying to keep out of my WordPress installs for the last three years? The good news is the other one looks more promising.
I would obviously prefer the non-duplicated master/slave setup where edits on one transfer to the other but had guessed this would need a lot more work.
May 4, 2018 at 11:08 pm #429168Was literally just thinking about this. Would be perfect solution for us. We are setting up region guide in Tuscany, but we would like to map a city guide to a part of the region and show those results. So when someone visits the city guide. Only places in that city show up. BUT we want them all to show up on the region guide (forgetting the SE mess/probably sort with conicals). I was more thinking mapped domain then restricting the places through URI being used. If visitor is on X domain then only show regions 1,23,12 etc) Again customisation, but just thinking about it right now. Maybe we don’t need multi-site actually, but multi-site would be good.
Will be following this. Nice 🙂

We have been working in this general area over the weekend and I will post some findings and thoughts later.
