Hello I’ve been setting up a website with the geodirectory framework and plugins and I would like to translate it to French I’ve downloaded the geodirectory-fr_FR .po and .mo wich I have uploaded via ftp but I do not see the changes! I’ve been reading watching the tutorials and forums but I cain’t get it to work can someone explain the steps I need to follow exactly maybe I did something wrong here’s the website url; idel-france.fr Thanks ahead!
June 2, 2016 at 8:40 am #202223Did you check out these articles: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/category/translation/ ?
The usual reason why translation files don’t seem to work is because they are uploaded to the wrong location. It seems your is correct from what I can find at http://idel-france.fr/wp-content/languages/geodirectory/geodirectory-fr_FR.mo
I guess you changed the site language at WP Settings > General, and are not using any caching?
If we need to review your settings, we will need WP admin details and FPT details in a private reply.

See http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_ThemesI just re-saved your PO file and re-uploaded the MOP and PO file, and it all works now.
I don’t know how you created the files, but there was an error in them. Please check.
June 2, 2016 at 1:06 pm #202289Awsome support thank you it works fine!
I see there’s a few expressions that aren’t translated:
Near me when you use the search arrow to geolocate
On the add-listing page :
Add – Country – Click on above field and type to filter list or add a new region – Click on above field and type to filter list or add a new city -Please accept our terms and conditions
On the login dashboard: My Invoice History
Where can I find these expressions to transalate them are they in the same file somewhere ?
Also there ssems to be a little bug with the location switcher it’s checked to work but i cain’t see it on the main nav menu. I tried private navigation and cleaning my cookies but I caint fix it.

did you read the documentation carefully?
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/translate-core/
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/translating-addons/Each plugin has it’s own translation file. The mo file for each plugin has to be uploaded in the correct folder as explained in the documentation.
For example the check out page string will be find in the payment manager add-on translation file.
Hope this helps.
Thanks

I just downloaded your po file. Saved (saving will compile the mo file automatically) and uploaded the mo file. It works again.
I’ìve never used the compile to mo command. Try sinply saving.
I’m not sure what you are doing wrong with poedit, for that yo ucan request for support here: https://poedit.net/support
For the missing translations, you only have the translation file for the core plugin in /wp-content/languages/geodirectory.
You are missing all the add-ons: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/translating-addons/
Thanks
June 2, 2016 at 11:45 pm #202647I really appreciate all you’re help! i figured what you mean with saving and it does make me an mo file automatically. so i’m trying to move on to translating addons so i create this folder /wp-content/languages/geodiradvancesearch and i load my translated po and mo file to that folder but it’s not working what am I doing wrong ?
June 2, 2016 at 11:57 pm #202649I made modifications to the core translation following the correct steps
1 dowload original .po
2 modify with poedit and dave
3 reuploaded the new modified .po and .mo file to the same place
why it went back to English please explain so i can understand! -
