Hi,
I’ve updated to the latest core and is using the new Avada child theme. The home top section (slideshow and search bar) are not being shown at all. I tried deactivating the advance search then reactivating but nothing is working.
Oh another note, The format for Avada theme option screen is messed up. The main area is at the bottom and it no longer pop up to say option is updated. This is not as important as the home page not showing, though.
Any ideas?
Thanks so much!
July 14, 2014 at 2:51 am #8366Maybe this could help?
Found out Avada’s own child theme–under theme customize–shows the home top section while the GeoDirectory Avada child theme doesn’t. Please see screenshot.
Thanks

July 14, 2014 at 8:48 pm #8471Hi guys,
Thanks so much for helping.
There is a home top section for widgets but it’s not working. Even the search bar isn’t being displayed at all. It was working prior to my update.
If I switch back to using the Avada child theme everything works.
Thanks again.

I have set your site to show latest posts on front page in Settings > Reading and added the map widget to the GD Home Top Sidebar area. 🙂
July 15, 2014 at 7:56 pm #8552Hi John,
Thanks so much. Does it only work if the map is on the home page? Could you please tell me what you did to fix it?
Thanks so much!
July 15, 2014 at 8:08 pm #8556Hi John,
I noticed that the widgets in the home top section are now in the slider-container div while in the past they were in the main content div. Was it something that I did wrong? If you get a quick moment, could you please tell me how you moved (fixed) this issue. I really appreciate your help!
Thanks
July 15, 2014 at 8:10 pm #8557Hi j007w,
I guess you are using the customizer to manage your widgets? If yes, you should be using the Appearance >> Widgets dashboard page instead.
Everything will be clearer…
Let us know
July 15, 2014 at 8:29 pm #8558Hi j007w,
There was no map in the “GD Home Top Sidebar” widget – so i dragged one in. Your main WP settings were also set to show a static page as your homepage, so i changed that to show latest posts.
The GD Home Top Widget area’s content is all shown in the slider-container div as part of the integration between Avada and GD – this allows the map to stretch to fill your screen (as long as it is set to 100% inside the map widget of course)July 15, 2014 at 8:40 pm #8559Hi Paolo and John,
Thanks again for your help. I guess the what did it was changing from static page to post for the home page. I get it now.
Hope you guys will have a great rest of the day!
July 16, 2014 at 1:24 pm #8652Good morning.
Sorry to bother you about this again.
I realized that when I go directly to the home page, the home top section shows its widgets (sildeshow and search bar) properly; however, when clicking through pages or when going to the site for the first time–such as this morning–there’d be a JavaScript popup saying undefined. Then, the site takes me to location site.com/city/united-states/texas/dallas/ and the home top section widgets do not display.
Could this be related to my other post about the back end listing edit/add page giving undefined error and not loading the entire page?
Thanks for your help!
July 16, 2014 at 1:35 pm #8655Hi,
Just want to update that I just followed Vikas’ instructions (thanks, Vikas!) and it fixed the back end issue; however, the front end issue as described still remains.
Also, want to thank all of you for outstanding support! I am not normally one to do any reviews but I’m going to wordpress.org to brag about you guys right now.
Thanks again!
