Hi I am creating a new website with Geo Directory. It has been around 2 years since I installed geo-directory. I imagine that things might has changed a bit since then.

I would like to know what is the best way to get started. Previously I installed the “Directory Starter” theme and then the “Supreme Directory” and built it up form there installing the add-ons. I like the look of the supreme directory so I would like to stick to that.

I also got an email that the V.2 beta version is out. Do you recommend I install the V.2 beta? or is that one not working properly yet to build a complete listing directory? If I install the V2 beta, will I be able to upgrade the V.2 beta without having to do everything from scratch again? If you recommend V2 beta where do I get the instructions for that?

Look forward in hearing from you.
    Thank you.

You can get the beta version here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/geodirectory-v2-first-beta-release/
    Some notes from that page:

This GeoDirectory core BETA is a very early release and is not recommended for a production site.

GeoDirectory addons are not supported yet, this is a core BETA only. Add-ons will be supported once core is out of beta.

WARNING: Directory Starter theme breaks the JS as its still using the old non mobile friendly select boxes. We will provide a BETA V2 for Directory Starter too ASAP.

Please do your testing with alternative themes.

If you do not intend your site to go live for a while, then you can start with V2, but as noted above, addons do not work with V2 yet.

An upgrade process from V1 to V2 will be available once V2 is completely stable.

    Thanks

    Thank you for the info.

I will start with V1 and will use the update process to V2 once it is ready.
Any idea when V2 with the upgrade kit will be ready? in 6 months? One years? Just to get an idea of the time frame.

    Thank you.

Stiofan and the development team started working on it approximately 9 months ago. The first commit dates June 29th 2017.

just FYI : Latest BETA released yesterday should be the last before a release candidate. We are already working on the add-ons. I believe it’ll take another couple of months before everything we’ll be out in their final stable release.

    Thanks
