Hi, First of all I have to say that I think this is a great plugin. At least … I think. What I do miss is conceptually documentation or any direction in how to utilize this plugin from scratch. When I initially started out with this plugin I loaded it with sample data and then on that data (places) everything looks to work alright. However when I want to setup my own places within my own country (Netherlands) that’s when I get confused because conceptually I don’t know what to specify and where and so I seem to run into problems like the following :
1) When I do set the default location to a city within the Netherlands, any place that I add subsequently must be within that city otherwise I get the error : Please choose any address off the (default city) only.
2) Adding a new place does not give me the opportunity to set the region (according to those defined in the Netherlands) but instead changes the region into the city name as well.
3) The new place is not being displayed on the “home” page location map.So obviously I’m missing conceptually understanding of how to setup things from scratch within this plugin and some documentation or direction in that would be very much appreciated.
Hope anyone can help me out on this, as I think the plugin has great potentials, which however are obstructed (at least in my struggle with it) by the lack of good documentation.

June 22, 2014 at 10:12 am #5552Hi Ronald, to enable more than one town or city, you need the MultiLocations add-on [ https://wpgeodirectory.com/addons/multilocation/ ].
Documentation is on its way.June 22, 2014 at 3:05 pm #5564Hi Guust. Ok, I have just purchased all addons (for initially 4 months) this afternoon. So I do have LocationManager (MultiLocations facility) plugin installed now as well.
Can you tell me whether the documentation will be coming soon !
In the meantime …
When I just only install the core plugin and add the 10 sample places, can you then please explain which concepts (lists etc.) are being created in that process? Because only installing the sample data is obviously quite useless.
I have not got a clue which things I have to define in order to get my own places displayed on the home page.June 22, 2014 at 9:57 pm #5607You can find your dummy listings at WP Admin > Place Settings.
Explore a bit there, and you will see they they are added to some dummy category.
So that is the basic structure of your directory: custom post types (Place) > categories > listings. This page should get you going on how to customise the design of your pages:
WPadmin > GeoDirectory > DesignHave a look at WPadmin > Appearance > Widgets: that is where you add particular blocks to the page of your choice.
We know it is less than ideal that the documentation is not ready, but with some searching in the forum, you should be able to make a good start.
If you have further questions, then just post them here. If there is anything you want us to have a look at in your installation then post your URL and WP login details in a private message with a detailed description of what you want us to look at.
June 23, 2014 at 8:00 am #5631Hi, I’m very sorry but it is still completely unclear to me, so let me try to ask your support in another way.
I’ve got the core plugin as well as the locationmanager plugin installed.
I’ve not installed the sample data. Now suppose the following scenario :
1) I want to add two new locations : Loc1 and Loc2
2) I want to have two new place categories : C1 and C2
3) I want to add four new places :
P1 within category C1 to Loc1
P2 within category C1 to Loc2
P3 within category C2 to Loc1
P4 within category C2 to Loc3
4) Now I want all the places to be visible (rendered) within the
GMap Home-page (within the GD Home Top Section)Can you now please tell me which steps I do have to follow (step by step) to get the above scenario up and running, supposing I did not do anything else yet then installing the plugins.

June 23, 2014 at 10:10 am #5642Ok, now that we know what we want to achieve, here goes:
- Setting up Multilocation:
Go to WP admin > Geodirectory > Multilocations > review the setting and choose the appropriate ones; you can always come back and change.
Suggested settings:
Show location switcher in menu: YES
Home Page Results: 2nd option
Country: if your site is only for NL, then choose the 1st option; if you want all countries, choose the 2nd, and if you want a selection of different countries, use the third option.
Always say YES if this option becomes availabel: “Add everywhere option in location switcher country dropdown.”
Region and City: same.
Save your changes - Setting up Place categories:
Go to WP admin > Places > Place categories
You might already have some categories there from when you imported the dummy data; you can just rename them or delete them and create new ones.
You will have to upload an icon, which you can choose from Media or upload a new one. - Creating listings (places):
Go to WP admin > Places > Add new place
Enter title, description, pick one or more categories, add an address (depending on the settings above, this might be restricted to NL only etc), add anything else you like, and click on Publish. - Adding your map to the home page:
Go to WP Admin > Appearance > Widgets
Add the GD>Gmap-Home page widget to GD Home Top Section, and change the settings to suit.
Suggested settings are: map width 100%, Map Auto Zoom YES, Collapse child/sub categories NO, Enable mouse scroll zoom YES
Let us know how you went. If you have further questions, then just post them here. If there is anything you want us to have a look at in your installation then post your URL and WP login details in a private message with a detailed description of what you want us to look at.
June 23, 2014 at 3:32 pm #5699Hi Guust, everything went smoothly. Thanks for the help.
I will certainly come with new questions along the way of exploring all GD plugins. Regards, Ronald Brink - Setting up Multilocation:
