I am trying to figure out where to change the header image that shows on each listing page. See attachment.
Tried the following method on https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/faqs/#supreme, but that did not work: Set the Hero/Parallax Featured Image for all Listing Pages
Do not feel comfortable to apply Method 2: If the Posts page gas no featured image, you can add the following to wp-config.php
Isn´t there an easier way? And also, is it possible to set image per CTP, Category, Subcategory?
Thanks

PS: those FAQs are for V1 and not always correct for V2, see https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/themes/supreme/
January 4, 2019 at 12:51 pm #461480Hello Guust,
Thanks for your answer. Followed your instructions, but now I get the featured image in the header as well as below the header. I don´t want that.
Also, the ratios and dimensions of the different featured images (header, in listing, on CPT overview page, are quite different, so they cannot look good in every location. What is the ratio/dimensions I should use?
I would like to add a feature image on the CPT overview page, but not on the listing page itself. Is that possible?
And also, is it possible to set an image per CTP, Category, Subcategory?
January 4, 2019 at 1:14 pm #461485Dimensions: 3:2 900*600, but you need to adjust your WP media settings, too – WP – Settings – Media
What is an “overview page”?
To disable the featured area on the Detail page, open the GD Detail template and set the Featured Area to None.
It is possible to set the Default image for each CPT (CPT-Settings-Advanced-Default Image), Category (CPT-Categories-Edit-Default Image), and Subcategory(same as category).January 4, 2019 at 1:14 pm #461486Can you post your URL and WP admin details in a private reply so we can have a look please. That will be a lot easier than guessing.
It all depends what type of pages you are talking about too. WP pages, or GD Location page etc.
CPT and category pages do not use a featured image in Supreme.

Set default images – https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/integrations/images/#fallback
About the Supreme Detail page featured image, how it shows the featured image in the featured area, then again in the slider. The idea is not to use the slider on the Detail template, or to put it further down the page. There isn’t an option to make the featured area show a different image, that would require a customization.
Guust is right about that with regard to supreme, but you could use the category description with in the Archive page layout: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/design-elements/#gd_category_description

January 10, 2019 at 2:23 pm #462483Hello Alex,
I have studied this, looked at it, played with it and I am not sure if I understand it, but what I think I understand does not make a whole lot of sense to me.
You said: The idea is not to use the slider on the Detail template, or to put it further down the page.
What I don´t understand is:
– Why would you present a template and theme with a slider in it, if is not GD´s intention that it is used?
– Why would you put a slider further down the page?
– Why can´t users decide if we want to use it? I really like the slider image. I want one, but a different one.
– If there is an image, it should be somewhere in a database or library, and if so, why can´t we replace it? And do that the easy way, not with customizations. I am sure I am not the only one.
– If I wanted to customize it, where would I do it? And can it be customized for each CPT.The other thing that I do not understand:
– Why would you have a featured image appear in three places? Why isn´t is possible to have a feature image and check in which location you would want it to appear. So I would be able to set it to Archive page and Details Page slider.
– So if I add the feature image, on the Details page it appears twice. In the slider and right below. If I check Disable theme feature image output? the image disappears from the slider, and reverts back to the image of the hand on the map.If I would want to change the size of the featured image on both the Archived and Detail page, it is not clear to me where to do this. I would think this is defined in the respective templates, but those codes have no meaning to me. I do not know what is responsible for what. I read this https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/integrations/images/#gd_post_images. It didn´t help me much.
All in all the easiest solution would be to have the featured image appear in the slider on the Details page, as well as on the Archive page, and turn off the one under the slider. Is is possible to remove the featured image under the slider, from the page template? If so, how?
If not…
– Where can I customize the slider? For each CPT?
– Could you please develop the flexibility to select featured images and sliders and which image to use where?Thank you.

gd_post_images has lots of settings options. When you edit your GD Detail page template, that display can be changed. You can create a new shortcode to replace the existing one.

January 11, 2019 at 7:10 am #462694Hello Alex,
Thank you once again.
I read through the links that you posted and they give explanation on how certain things work and it is very insightful.
It however, does not solve the problem at hand. With the page you are looking at as an example, it is not what I want it to look like.
Let me ask 3 questions about options that could perhaps be solutions:
(1) Is there an option to set the slider/parallax image on the details page per CPT? So all listings within a CPT have the same image?
OR
(2) Is it possible to show the featured image in the slider/parallax on the details page and on the archive page BUT NOT below the slider/parallax on the details page?
OR
(3) Would this problem of not being able to switch the image, be solved by using another theme?Thank you once again.
January 11, 2019 at 6:12 pm #4627771. There is a default image that can be set for the CPT in the CPT setings-> General – Default image. However that image is only for listings that do not have an image. You can access that image with the gd_post_images shortcode on listings Detail and Archive pages for listings that do not have an image. However the Supreme Featured Image Area at the top does not use fallback images. I have created a task to look at that for future versions of Supreme.
2. I do not understand this one. To be clear, the slider and the featured image area (with parallax effect) are two different features. The sider is created with the gd_post_images shortcode, whereas the Featured Imaged Area (Settings) is part of the theme and only shows the listing featured image. You can move the gd_post_images shortcode around in the GD Detail template to change the order if you like, but the Featured Image area could only be moved with a customization to the theme.
3. Some themes have features that involve the featured image. If you want you can simply turn off the parallax image by disabling it on the GD Details template.
As a reminder, you can create a separate template for each CPT. The setting to choose the template is in the advanced CPT options. To make a duplicate, you would create a copy of the GD Details template and edit that as you like. When we do that we usually name them like GD Detail – {CPT NAME} so we can find them easily.

Yes I have found that, but it doesn´t solve the problem for the Supreme Featured Image Area/Parallax image at the top. Thanks for making that a task.

Confusion explained. I used the wrong term for the Featured Image area with parallax effect. I understand now.
Would like to request that the Featured Image Area could be managed without customizations, and could be set per CPT.
Suggestion form my side is to make a visual glossary for the templates that you use. Screenshot, with the names of what you call each area.

Yes, I have been playing with that. Thank you for the suggestions.
And in general, thank you for being so patient with me, Alex!
