I have followed the instructions here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/settings/import-export/

and got as far as re-importing the exported list – I have two places set up (manually) with two different locations. I have manually set up categories.

After I exported the list, when I try to re-import it (the csv file) without opening it, I get an “HTTP error”

    Please advise. Thanks.

HTTP error on import is normally the server refusing to upload a certain file type.

Please contact the server admin and ask them if they have mod_security installed on your server.

Disabling that should fix the problem.

    Let us know.

    Thanks

We have asked our server admin (our host provider) and they will not allow it. Are there any other workaround solutions that either they or we could implement. I have a directory of 400 listings to import so I am keen to find a solution because manual entry will be very time consuming. Thanks.

You could clone your site to another host, like Cloudways (or 95% of other hosts), do your import, then clone back.

I found the support page that suggested installing the “Disable Real MIME Check” plugin temporarily in order to upload the csv file (and to turn it off immediately afterwards. This worked but I did have to use LibreOffice Calc and not Excel. Unfortunately, although the import seemed to work, I can’t see any of the new data (no IDs set) or edits to the old data (with IDs as they were exported). Any ideas why I can’t see the new data or the updates? The new data has a post title and a category.

    Hello,

We can take a look at that if you would like to share your WP Admin credentials in a private reply.

Please also zip your CSV and attach here along with your exported sample listing.

Thanks. I got the import working. Initially I had one error:
“Row 8 Error: Google geocode failed: REQUEST_DENIED”
I had set up the Google API and billing as per the documentation and I couldn’t see anything wrong with the data in the row, apart from perhaps a “#” in the street name field. I deleted the # sign and then it worked.

Thanks for reporting, we will check on that.
