Perhaps this part of your V2 documentation should be completed:

    https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/settings/import-export/
    FAQ
    Does GDV2 Geocode? Reverse Geocode?

Geocoding is when address data is used to identify the latitude and longitude of the address.

I gave that a shot but still got the same error. I’ll wait a half hour and try again. In the meantime, can you confirm that I should be able to import listings without latitude and longitude and have them geocoded in the import?

    HI,

if the address format is correct, with V2 yes it will GeoCode your listings automatically.

    Thanks

I’m still getting the same error even after creating a new API through GD while logged in to google. I double checked that the correct APIs were enabled and it’s connected to the same project which has the billing account linked. Anything else you can think of?

Is there any other reason this error would appear? Google geocode failed: REQUEST_DENIED

What is the error message if my address format is incorrect?

My API data in google show the geocoding requests are getting to Google and the 46% errors reflects the entries without lat/long.

Requests Errors (%) Latency, median (ms) Latency, 95% (ms)
    Maps JavaScript API 163 0 24 59
    Places API 93 0 0 0
    Geocoding API 76 46 155 650

    I figured it out!

I disabled the API application restrictions and it worked perfectly fine! The restrictions worked fine for other aspects – can you think of a reason why my domain restriction wouldn’t work for geocoding?

Probably it was not setup correctly? If you generate the key from within GeoDirectory instead, it will do it correctly without problems…

    Just FYI

Unknown about your restrictions, we only recommend a very basic one, but, I should have recommended removing restrictions first, to make sure the key is working correctly before locking it down, sorry for missing that.
