    1. Hey, so I am about to do a bulk import with a Category – Sub – Listing structure. I did an export of a demo listing I made that belonged to the following subcategory // Automobile – Parts & Accessories // which was inside the top level category // AUTOMOTIVE //

It also has a few more, but lets focus on the first one.

The result of the export was this

    Automobile – Parts &-amp-; Accessories,AUTOMOTIVE,Electronics – Audio Visual,RETAIL SHOPPING,Truck Parts &-amp-; Accessories
NOTE: I added dashes into the escape so I could demonstrate it

    Notice the escaped &,

should I follow this example when doing the import and escape all the &’s and if I dont will it escape them for me

    2. It seems that it then states the primary category after the sub, which seems kindof backwards. Is this the example I should follow when doing the import?

    3. If I dont include the top level and directly reference the sub level, will it still work to make it easier for me?

    4. Is default category required for import, or can I do without assigning it?

    1) if you follow this example you are 100% sure you’ll have no problem. However if you db collation and table collation is correct, it should work also if you enter the symbol directly.

    2) It doesn’t matter

    3) Parent category MUST be referenced or the system won’t work correctly

    4) Not required, however the system will auto assign one cause it needs it for 2 things. The category to show by default in the URL and the map marker to use in maps.

    Hope this helps.

    Let me know,

    Thank you

Thanks Paolo, your the best, We are working on a great example for sites using GeoDirectory. Ill post when its up so you can check it out and see how it works on a larger scale. We decided to try one CPT instead of breaking it down, we have a pretty powerful server behind us with 128GB ram and 12 core Xeon so I am hoping it can handle it, We will be using GD Boaster and limited additional plugins. We are looking into some more advanced my.cnf setups and we will be pushing most of the innoDB into the buffer pool

    You are welcome 🙂

With 128GB ram and 12 core Xeon, you should be able to handle a ridiculously big amount of both listings and visitors…

    Keep us posted! 🙂
