Hi all,
because of the high activity in the forum and the number of tweaks requested since 1st release, we are struggling to keep up with few promises we made.
Especially in the field of Theme compatibility pack.
Indeed GeoDirectory can be tweaked with few functions to work with any theme, unfortunately most users won’t be able to see it working as easily as promised, because very few can write those simple functions themself.
To correct this, we decided to hire John Allsopp of Poshweb for the next 2 months to help us integrate as many theme as possible. (basic layout integrations)
John has already written the necessary code to use GD with Genesis framework and we are positive he will help us push GD to the next level in the integration field.
Priority will be given to most requested themes, very soon we will open a page for voting feature requests.
If your theme isn’t in the list of most voted, or you can’t wait too long for it, you can sponsor an integration.
Price for sponsoring an integration will be $200 (all for John’s hard work). Whenever a member (or group of members) pay for an integration, their theme will go on top of the list and job will be done immediately.
Hope this will help push things forward.
Thanks,
The team!
July 8, 2014 at 1:36 am #7740Thank you, Paolo.
Just to clarify, John will just do theme integrations and not any type of customization, web design, custom plugin development, etc?
July 8, 2014 at 2:29 am #7741Paolo,
Great to see the team being responsive and, pardon the cliche, thinking outside the box.
On a parallel note, any time frame estimates for when shortcodes will be released? While this may not be a 100% solution, I would think that if shortcodes were available for everything, that would make GD more “theme agnostic” and able to be integrated more, leaving mostly some CSS/design tweaks for the user to come up with.
At the very least, this might buy some time for the team, especially with John’s assistance, to pull together tighter integration without fully delaying anyone from moving forward with the theme of their choice.
Cheers,
BrianJuly 8, 2014 at 5:35 am #7745I have $200! Can you have enfold integrated by middle of next week. GD messes with the layout of the page, at least thats the way it looks on the site my developer is coding.
who do I pay and how do I get this work completed? Enough messing about – my development is a few weeks behind.
Josh
July 8, 2014 at 6:09 am #7747@manilaboy we hired John to work on theme templates integration only. He will be doing it on a project basis, not full time. He has to deliver a number of theme functions per week. Other than that he’s free and welcome to get freelance work for anyone willing to pay for his time.
@brian, shortcodes are a priority, but as an easy task to complete. Especially for the detail page, where sidebar data will have to be moved in the content area somewhere. We are already discussing and planning their development.
@jroza1 Stiofan released beta functions for Enfold, did you test them? https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/enfold-compatibility-code-please-test/ They should work fairly well. Anyway John should be around later today. Now he’s probably sleeping.
Thx
July 8, 2014 at 8:18 am #7755Hi everyone,
I am very pleased and honoured to have been asked to provide these compatibility packs, and eager to get started.
I am also hoping to start work on some child themes tailored specifically to WPGeoDirectory – but that will come a little later, once the compatibility code has been finished for the most requested themes. My top priority will be getting these compatibility codes out to you, so that you can get your projects off the ground. I will be starting the first one shortly…
July 8, 2014 at 12:24 pm #7777Great look forward to full genesis compatibility at last 🙂
July 8, 2014 at 1:32 pm #7785Welcome Aboard, John! Thank you for accepting the challenge. 🙂
Will you be posting a list or roadmap for the child themes you plan to develop or will it be strictly by popular demand?
I asked because the GD developers will be offering their own “in-house” child themes that come with the yearly subscription. Perhaps Paolo or Stiofan can shed some light on this as well.
July 8, 2014 at 4:42 pm #7810@jroza1 If you would like me to commence on Enfold for you, i would be happy to oblige.
If you would like to go ahead, please post some contact details in a private reply so that i can get in touch with you.Regards
