I did a boo-boo and think I fixed it (as far as I can see) by following an older post regarding writing over imports (I inadvertently imported my data again trying to resolve another issue, but didn’t click the right box and ended up with duplicate info). While doing it the correct way seemed to take care of the double-listings, at least upon initial glance, I now show triple the number of entities in their respective categories on the listing page and am unsure how to reset that number. The page is here: http://www.appnetprojects.com/wassupin/places/las-vegas-dining/page/2/
The problem I was trying to resolve was in doing a search for near “Downtown,” nothing shows up. I realized the place setting I created yesterday, “Specific Local,” shows up in the details and listing results but the neighborhood doesn’t. What I want it to do is show the address, then the neighborhood (if applicable) and then the specific local (if applicable). The reason for this is a location like the Airport has several Starbucks in it and the specific local informs what concourse/gate. It also denotes which Hotel/Casino a listing might be in, but I still want the neighborhood to show on the sidebar and be searchable. I added “Neighborhood” as a place setting as I did with the specific local yesterday, but it’s not populating the details sidebar and I’m still unable to query “Downtown” as a location in the “near” field (I’ve tried some other neighborhoods such as Spring Valley and have had results.)
Last, but not least, I’m using my sticky menu for the header but this is the only page it’s not functioning correctly on and I’m assuming it’s because there’s a very limited amount of scroll on the page. Is there any way to perhaps increase the space somewhere around the “Popular categories” area to allow it to reset the header, assuming that’s the issue (or perhaps decrease so there’s no scrolling)? As you can see, when you scroll the entire page, the header background disappears and leaves the navigation text and logo floating.
Thanks!
November 14, 2017 at 6:43 pm #405241I found the post suggesting deleting them 200 at a time in the dashboard, so that’s what I’m doing – but still help with the other bits. Thanks!
November 15, 2017 at 2:08 am #405272Hello!
Ar you talking about using neighborhoods in GD > Multilocations?
Usually those are used to maximize SEO, by creating Listing pages for each Neighborhood.
If you are trying to move visitors to the proper Neighborhood, you can use nearby redirection, but, if your directory is ‘hyperlocal’, meaning it is set to one city, you may have more success by giving the visitor a list of links to each of the main areas. It sounds like “Downtown” would be one of those links. You can add the location switcher to the main menu: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/multilocations/#main
You can also create a page with links to all locations:
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/location-manager-shortcodes/#switchYou can “add space” easily by using translation files; find some default text in the area and add br tags there. That’s the simplest way, otherwise you are editing templates or getting into actions. There are many more examples in the foruum here.

https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/gd-search/November 15, 2017 at 2:31 am #405277No, I actually hadn’t done anything with multilocations. It is for a single metro-area with a number of neighborhoods. When I started putting my spreadsheet together, I created a separate column for neighborhoods. Once I got the software and started adding dummy locations to test it, I noticed Google Maps already does this when you set the location. Nevertheless, my import included a column of data for neighborhoods and my intent was to make these searchable. Search for “Coffee” near “Downtown” for example. It sounds like I should give [gd_location_neighbourhood] a try – where exactly should this be placed?
Thanks,
Jim
November 15, 2017 at 2:43 am #405279Ok, I went into multilocations and seemed to have figured it out by changing a few things and enabling neighborhoods. I didn’t think to look there as I tend to forget, even after 13 years living in Las Vegas, that it’s technically three cities (Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Henderson with a large unincorporated area which includes The Strip). So that appears ok now along with the duplicate listings. Not sure if you can help with the last bit with the header or not. I can’t do anything within its own settings because the listings page where I’m having the issue isn’t an option there.
November 15, 2017 at 5:18 am #405295Hello!
I’m not sure we can help you with the header, but if I see one that is functional on a listing page I will take a peak at it.
Have you already taken a look at each of these pages?

November 15, 2017 at 4:24 pm #405397Just read through those, they’re helpful (though the placement of the documentation link in the footer keeps throwing me off – it’s the last place I would think to look after scrolling through everything on the page.)
Here’s the header on the listing page – you will have to scroll to see how it becomes “dysfunctional”:
Here’s the header on a details page where it works as intended:
As I noted before, I’m not sure if it’s possible to increase the size in a specific area (between popular categories and the search bar) but have noticed the category icons show extremely small – that would be my next question (to enlarge them); let me know if that should go in another support ticket or if it’s related.
Thanks!
November 16, 2017 at 7:59 am #405472Hello!
I see lots of posts in the forum about how to make the header do different things.

Category icon size on home page:
.sd.home .featured-area .geodir-pcat-show img { height: 35px !important; }

November 16, 2017 at 11:51 am #405527I originally looked at a lot of these suggestions but ended up settling on a plugin (mystickymenu) for the header. That was over a week ago. I posted the question in their support page, but since it’s free they’re a bit slow to respond – hence my asking if there’s a way to change the spacing on the GD page to enable the page to scroll as I suspect that’s the reason why the header isn’t working on the listings page (and the listings page only) as there’s a limited amount of scrolling with the fixed map. I’ll search around a bit more with regards to the plugin, but haven’t found anything on that end to help that’s why I was trying to see if there’s anything else I can do.
Thanks for the info on the category sizing; I’ll add that to my to-do list for this morning when I crawl out of bed.
November 16, 2017 at 11:54 am #405529Hello,
You might try some of the sticky menu links. If you are using Supreme, they might serve you better.

November 16, 2017 at 2:39 pm #405589I have a temporary fix for the header until I hear back from its author.
Re: category sizing, that code you provided is for the home page. My problem is with the listings from the search result. I did a quick search but didn’t find anything and also tried some variations of the supplied code but have had no results. I would imagine it’s a simple solution, substituting the page name for “home”? If so, I’m not sure what the correct page name would be.

There’s a page here about how to make CSS changes like this to your site:
