Hello GD support,
setting up my GD in German language, I am almost through with all the translation files (poedit). However, there are still some strings which are still in English although I am 99% sure that I have translated all relevant po-files.:
1: All listings expiry email notifications are still in English (subject line as well as content)
2: Some event strings in the BP user profile like dates, times and “are interested” (see screenshot).
Is there a way to translate those strings, too?
Looking forward to hearing from you 🙂
April 30, 2018 at 10:54 am #428481Hello,
Which addons have you translated?
Event manager?
Buddypress integration? (BuddPress?)
Your theme?
Pricing and Payments?April 30, 2018 at 4:59 pm #428526Hi Alex,
thanks for the quick response. Really, I have translated them all. And in none of the files I could find the wording of the expiry notifications.
Do you have any idea? And by the way – is there a chance to translate the English/US-files, too? Some of the strings are really bad English (see attached expiry notification).
April 30, 2018 at 5:38 pm #4285341. Payment Manager Expiry Notifications – Dynamic text can be translated using the Custom Field Translation method – https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/translating-custom-fields/
2. Events widget – There are some strings in the Event manager. There is a bug with the “Interested” widget. Please reply with WP Admin, Site URL, and FTP Information and we can patch the event manager plugin to allow translation of the widget.
3.Translate English – yes, you can make changes to the en_US file and save and it will reload also. If changes are for dynamic text, then it can also be accomplished with the custom field translation method.

1) I can’t find expiry notification text in geodirectory-de_DE.po, have you re-scan & updated the .po file?
Please follow steps given in section “Translating Custom Fields without WPML’s String Translation module” at here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/translating-custom-fields/2) Fixed
Thanks,
KiranMay 2, 2018 at 9:42 am #428762Hello Kiran,
1) no, I haven’t worked on the files since I started this request. I will try the WPML module and let you know how it worked.
2) Thanks a lot. Just one thing (sorry, I could have considered this earlier): In Germany we have a different way of writing dates, e. g. we do not at all use the AM/PM – instead we just say “Uhr”.
So would it be possible to have the dates written like this
Montag, 23. April 2018, 09:00 – 16:00 Uhr
Sorry, I really should have thought about this earlier and sorry for causing this additional effort.
Many thanks
BirgitMay 2, 2018 at 11:33 am #428774Hi Birgit,
1) Ok
2) Try to translate ‘am’, ‘pm’, ‘AM’, ‘PM’ strings in main WordPress core .po file.
Let us know if it not working. Thanks,
KiranMay 21, 2018 at 3:38 pm #431488Hi Support,
With the WPML String translation I was able to translate the listing expiry notification. Thank you for this hint. However, I still haven’t found a solution for my translation problem with the date and time of events.
I have been able to replace am/pm by the German word “Uhr” (which is only and intermediate solution as long as the page is only in German and not in German AND English) but still the hours only count from 1 – 12 instead of 1 – 24.I have checked all settings and all language files to make sure the date / time format shall be
j. F Y like 21. Mai 2018
H:i like 15:30(see screenshot time settings 1)
Still when adding an event the mask to enter the time still shows AP/PM (see event screenshot 1) and in the profile the date of the event is still shows
Mai 21, 2018
3:30 Uhr (instead of 15:30 Uhr, which is very confusing).(see event screenshot 2).
Do you have an idea, how I can handle this?
Looking forward to your responseMay 22, 2018 at 4:36 am #431575Hi Birgit,
Date/time translation has been fixed already and will be available in next release.
