Hello – when someone posts a listing, the client and the admin both get the email that says a listing was published with the link to the listing. The problem I’m having is that the link is incorrect.
I double-checked permalinks were set properly to post name, then tried again, same issue.
Error link format:
http://vacationrentalhomes.info/places/cabin/the-cabin-on-amelia/
The correct link format should be:
http://vacationrentalhomes.info/places/united-states/lino-lakes/cabin/the-cabin-on-amelia/
Somehow the Country and City aren’t being added to the link structure as they need to be.
I’ve searched the forum archives and wasn’t able to find an active thread regarding this issue, my apologies if it’s already been asked and answered.
December 10, 2017 at 12:05 am #408975Hello!
You can create a private reply with site login url and WP admin credentials and we can take a look at your settings.
You cannot use “Add country and city slug in listing urls (/country/city/)” at GD Permalinks if you have more than one region on your site.

That option is only if you allow only listings in one region; if you can have different regions, they need to be in the URL if you want to add the location to the URL.Thanks
December 11, 2017 at 5:41 am #409036I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. I’ve tried every option in permalinks, and the email notification to both admin and client still get the #listing-link# incorrect, every time. There’s always part of the URL missing.
I also made the region United States only and tried all options in permalinks that way and the email is still incorrect.
The links work site wide otherwise, the preview also comes in okay.
December 11, 2017 at 7:43 am #409045United States is not a region but a country, so you still can’t use /country/city/ but now will be able to use /region/city/ or /country/region/
Thanks
December 11, 2017 at 7:51 am #409046I completely understand what you’re saying I believe, and don’t mean to be difficult but I’m still stuck.
The issue is only with the emails that get sent to admin and client. The #listing-link# within those email notifications is still incorrect.
I have selected:
Add location slug in listing urls
Add region and city slug in listing urls Add region and city slug in listing urls (/region/city/)
Add requested category slugs in listing urlsDecember 11, 2017 at 9:45 am #409052The default location you set was
, ,
All locations need to be in the format city > region > country
See also https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/definitions/#locationI fixed it for you, please check now.
Thanks
December 11, 2017 at 9:52 pm #409128Okay, I really, really appreciate your continued help and patience with this.
Now, the URL in the admin and client post submitted successfully notification email is taking me to the correct listing, however, the city and state is incorrect.
I posted this property in Yachats, Oregon:
http://vacationrentalhomes.info/places/oregon/yachats/vacation-rental-by-owner/sweet-homes-rentals/
If you look at the map, it’s in the right place and the link works correctly as above. However, the notification email has the following link, showing “Anchorage, Alaska” instead of Yachats, Oregon.
That link also takes you to the listing info… I’m so confused as to what is causing the URL glitches… But at least the client / admin does not produce a 404 error anymore.
Any more ideas?
December 11, 2017 at 10:28 pm #409137I cannot replicate that error, see image.
Can you run a few tests again, and if it happens again, please detail exactly the steps you took.
ThanksDecember 11, 2017 at 10:36 pm #409140Thank you Guust.
Logged in as admin, I go to Add Listing. I select Free, select that I am not the owner/associate of the listing, then I import a FaceBook link into the social importer. I choose the category (required) then I also accept the terms and conditions.
Listing preview works fine, when I submit it, it goes into the map in the correct spot & location & URL are all good.
But for some reason the email notifications I receive still have Anchorage, Alaska.
Prior to this, I was getting different URL errors as noted in first post, however, whatever you / Guust did for me in reply #409052 helped as I wasn’t getting 404 errors since then – just incorrect city / state only in email notifications.
When I go into GD > Multilocations, I see Anchorage, Alaska is on the map pin. Could this be part of the issue?
December 11, 2017 at 10:43 pm #409143Anchorage is the default location now after I deleted the incorrect default location.
What do the address fields say after you import the facebook URL?
You need to make sure that the region and city field are updated.
Can you post the Facebook page URL if we need to test. Thanks
December 11, 2017 at 10:54 pm #409145Okay, when I do the FaceBook import it is grabbing the correct city and state.
Here’s the link I tried:
https://www.facebook.com/IowaCabinRentals/
It’s still putting Anchorage, Alaska in the URL for the admin and client post submitted email notifications.
December 11, 2017 at 11:06 pm #409148I cannot replicate that, I just added exactly as you have done it and I get everything right.
Try using a different browser with a different user, it is most likely some cached issue for you only. -
