Hi there,
one question this time:
Is it possible to add extra location besides Country/Region & City? Like district or something?
Example: In Romania we have:
Country: Romania
Region: Municipiul Bucuresti
City: Bucuresti
I would like to add extra item: “District”, because the city in the example above is diveded into 6 districts.Thank you,
VladAugust 22, 2017 at 1:36 pm #392302Yes, you can. Look at GD > Multilocations > Location settings tab: Wish to enable neighbourhoods ?
Thanks
August 22, 2017 at 4:45 pm #392342That would be great! Yes I think so, I would like to have a more complete location. Let me clear that up a bit.
What I have now:
https://thebeautyadviser.com/beautysalons/romania/bucuresti/beauty-salons/abstract-studio/What I would like to have ( so I do not have to make way to many categories and subcategories to replace this below):
https://thebeautyadviser.com/beautysalons/romania/bucuresti/Sector-6/Militari/beauty-salons/abstract-studio/
How can I do this? Will activating neighborhoods help?
Thanks!
August 22, 2017 at 4:52 pm #392344After the city you can have the neighbourhood and the category or subcategory.
Sector-6/Militari
What is sector-6 and what is militari?
Thanks
August 22, 2017 at 5:09 pm #392351Sector 6 is one of the 6 Districts that Bucharest has. Militari is a neighborhood.
How can I put these in the listings location, so it will appear in the urls for better SEO.
Thanks,
VladAugust 22, 2017 at 5:11 pm #392352hi,
you can only have :
city/neighborhood
So you can only have 1 or the other.
Thanks
August 22, 2017 at 5:20 pm #392354one of them whould be great!
Can you please guide me to set this neighborhoods up? I tried to activate it, but I don’t find a neighborhood field in the listings page to fill in. Where should I look for it after I activate it (from GD > Multilocations > Location settings tab)?
thanks!
August 22, 2017 at 5:26 pm #392356After activating it, you can start adding the Neighborhoods from MultiLocation > Manage Locations.
Google Maps doesn’t pass that info, so they must be created in advance.
Thanks
August 22, 2017 at 7:00 pm #392394Great! I did activate it, I am starting to use it. But let me ask you, even though I activated it, I modified a listing and marked the new location neighborhood for it, but when I go to that listing I cannot see the neighborhood in the url, nor in any other place.
Isn’t it suppose to appear in the url?
thanks
August 23, 2017 at 3:52 pm #392532Neighborhood should appear in URL, if you provide admin credentials we’ll check what’s wrong.
Thanks
August 25, 2017 at 8:37 am #392826No longer needed.
I will use from now on places categories and subcategories for better seo.Regarding this, what I would like to ask you:
How can I prevent location page urls and categories and subcategories urls to cannibalize themselves? Is there a certain setting in GeoDirectory that can help me prevent this?
Thanks,
VladAugust 25, 2017 at 11:23 am #392844How can I prevent location page urls and categories and subcategories urls to cannibalize themselves?
What do you mean? All URL settings are at GD > Permalinks.
Location pages by default have this URL: /location/country/region/city or shorter than.
Category pages start with /custom-post-type-name/categoryAugust 25, 2017 at 11:33 am #392846Let’s say I will modify a category name from “Beauty Salons” to “Romania” – this is a change I will have to do in the following days, to rename the existing categories & add new ones also. So If I will have a category named “Romania” and I will also have a Location named “Romania” they both will appear in the url’s they belong to. Each of these 2 words will describe a web page on my website.
I know that it is better not to have a category and a tag named identically. What about web pages? How will Google know which page to crawl? How will I show the search engines which of these 2 pages have a bigger priority?
That’s what I meant with cannibalizing.
Hope I was coherent with my phrases.
August 25, 2017 at 11:42 am #392848The Romania [country] page will have a URL like /location/romania and will show all listings that have been added in the country Romania.
The Romania [category] page will have a URL like /places/romania-1 and will show all listings that have been categorised in the category Romania.
Google will crawl both pages, and decide which has the better content somehow. -
