Making Address field not required

    I have a directory of businesses and am using the default “Address” field for my directory which is required. However, recently I have received a lot of requests for online businesses that do not have an address. With that being said, is there a way to make the “Address” field(s) optional? Just asking because there is no “Is Required” checkbox on there like other fields.

    You can create a new custom post type for online business and delete the requirement to use addresses for that custom post type.
    All listings in the same custom post type need addresses, or all listings in the same custom post type will not have addresses, but you cannot mix and match in the same custom post type.

    I wish we could make the address optional as well because I have an identical situation.

    Perhaps an “online only” or similar option – especially since more business are shutter their brick and mortar stores.

    You can have an “online only” CPT:
    1. Install and activate the Custom Post Types addon
    2. Create a new CPT
    3. In the “Show Advanced” options, tick “Disable physical location?” > YES

    So your users can choose to add a listing with or without an address.
