Hi there,
Is it possible to set up the homepage map so that when somebody lands on the homepage, it will zoom to just the right level for the users location and the nearest listing at the same time? I’ve got the advanced search installed and multilocations set to the ‘current location page’ option. If I have auto zoom enabled it zooms out so that the whole country of Spain is visible. If I have a certain level selected in the widget, say 15 it will show some random place that’s not close to the users location.
My site is http://www.eluniversodeingles.com
thanks in advanceNovember 19, 2016 at 3:21 am #306625GD > Advanced search settings > REDIRECT SETTINGS ON FIRST TIME LOAD > Redirect to nearest location (on first time load users will be auto geolocated and redirected to nearest geolocation found)
That setting will geolocate your visitors if they agree to be geolocated, the system will then look for the closest location/city in your database, and serve that location page with all the listings in that city.
If the map on GD Home is set to autozoom, the map of that city will auto-zoom depending on the listings in the visitor’s closest city.November 19, 2016 at 2:47 pm #306759Hi Guust,
thanks for your prompt reply.
I had the advanced search settings already set up to what you said and yes, when I set the GD home map to autozoom for the first time loading the page where it asks for permission, it does zoom in on the listings nearest to me, however if I then for example close the page and return back to it, the map on the homepage will only show a zoomed out map of the whole country and not zoomed in on listings near to me. Having said this, it doesn’t do this when I view it on my mobile. Only on my laptop. What are your thoughts?
thanks in advanceNovember 19, 2016 at 4:50 pm #306770HI,
on mobile it is probably not working because you are using either chrome or safari that require a SSL certificate to be installed on your website. They do not allow GeoLocation on insecure websites.
https://wpgeodirectory.com/adding-a-ssl-certificate-to-your-website/
On desktop, if you close your browser and come back it will retain your position only if you authorize the browser to remember your choice to share your location.
Thanks
November 19, 2016 at 8:16 pm #306910Hi,
I wrote that it works on my mobile but not on my laptop and I have had an SSL installed since buying the domain and servers. I also have it set to remember my location.
November 19, 2016 at 8:38 pm #306922There is something not working as it’s geolocating me in Valencia Spain, even though I didn’t share my location at all (and I’m in Mexico).
I asked to the developers to check what the problem is, they’ll need admin credentials so please provide them in a private reply.
Thanks

It seems some settings are not working with the geolocation:
GD> multilocations > Enable default country > Hide country part of url for LISTING, CPT and LOCATION pages?I’ll get the developers to look at this after the weekend.
