Map Zoom and Near Me zoom

    Hi there… thank you again for this plugin… It’s awesome.

    I’d like to set the Center of the Map Zoom when the page initially opens to the users GeoLocated area (if available). I’d like it zoomed in quite a bit, maybe their city and surrounding cities. In Appearance>Widgets I changed the zoom, but now, it’s zooming in on the ocean. :-/

    Also, when someone clicks the Near Me button, I’d like for the map to zoom in.

    I think I must have some settings wrong or something, because I know this is supposed to work, but I can’t find how to achieve either of these.

    Hi,

    when you 1st visit the website it will auto zoom to include all listings in all locations.

    If you change that it zooms in the ocean because that is the current center of your map.

    After sharing your location it will auto zoom to include all listings near you within the radius defined.

    What is your current location? (so that we can emulate it and see what you see?)

    So, the initial load will always be the center of all map locations? Did I understand that correctly?

    You said, “After sharing your location, it will auto zoom…” I don’t see this happening. Perhaps I’m not understanding you. Exactly HOW are you sharing your location? Because, the only way i know to share my location is the Near Me button.

    When I click the near me button, there is no zoom. I’ve changed the button text to “Zoom in on my city”.

    Is there any way that when the page loads it will automatically zoom to their location? That would be ideal.

    Browser: Safari.

    I don’t think that my location should matter. It IS geolocating me AFTER I click the Near Me button. But it is NOT zooming in on the region.

    Safari and Chrome require your website to be secure to use GeoLocation.

    Please see: https://wpgeodirectory.com/adding-a-ssl-certificate-to-your-website/

    It will not work otherwise.

    I changed the setting to “Auto Zoom” and it works now (Firefox and Safari). (Yes, I know GeoLocating doesn’t work on Chrome, but it does work with Safari if you change your preferences in Safari.)

    Now, back to the other questions that I asked:

    Is there any way that when the page loads it will automatically zoom to their location? That would be ideal.

    Hi,

    that is not an option. The Google Geolocation API require authorization from the user to share their location via the browser.
