Hi, first let me start by thanking the developers and by saying that I’ll likely purchase the social importer plugin in the near future, once I’m certain I’m sticking with this directory software.
My main reasons for posting are that A) The maps are not working anywhere on the site (GeoDirectory is the only place they should appear). Is there a fix for this?
Also, B) Is there a way to change the order in which listings are displayed on the main directory page? I would ideally like to customize the order in which listings appear or at the very least be able to display oldest first, highest-rated first, etc. As it stands, it only displays newest first and the older listings get pushed to the back. Can this be changed, and if so, how?
I’ve found that when I installed Geodirectory it simultaneously created a page called “Places”, which is essentially just the directory except the listing order (and some other details) can be customized. How do I avoid duplication, and is there a way to customize the Directory page the way I can the “Places” page?
Here is the Directory page (the main page): http://homehealthmetairie.com/directory/.
Here is the Places page, which is in a directory entitled “Agency”: http://homehealthmetairie.com/agency/.
Essentially what I want is the control I have over the latter page with the former, which gives me no say at all as to the order in which listings are displayed.
February 1, 2017 at 4:38 am #352905Hi Pete,
Let’s try to fix this one issue at the time. I’ve just checked your Website http://homehealthmetairie.com/agency/ameracare-home-health-care/#post_map and I’m able to see the issue there. Check out this screenshot http://prntscr.com/e2yzjf , the console error indicates that the Google API key cannot be used on this Website as it is “Restricted”. Did you insert a Website URL in the restricted Website option when you generate the API key? Kindly check on that.
Regarding the sorting option, check out this section of the documentation https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-place-settings/#sorting . Well, let us know how it goes.
Thanks!

When you say the Google API Key cannot be used because it is restricted, are you saying the API key or the website is restricted? I’m sorry, I’m not a programmer and am only beginning to be introduced to terms like API.
Where would I find the ‘restricted website’ option?
Do I even have a Google API key? I don’t recall getting one and am not sure I’d know what to do with it if I did.
I just ran a Google search for the term “Google Maps API” and am learning about them now. If by chance I do already have access to one it’s by sheer happenstance or luck.
So, in conclusion, I am sorry to ask you this but is there any way you can dumb it down for me a little? I can barely code HTML4, anything in excess of that requires a higher IQ than the good Lord endowed me with.
February 1, 2017 at 5:35 am #352926Okay, so I got a Maps API key, verified the domain, set the restrictions to “none” in the API console… Now am I supposed to enter the key somewhere on the site or within GeoDirectory to get the maps to start working?
February 1, 2017 at 5:55 am #352931Hi Pete,
Please check out this section of the documentation and see if it helps https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/add-google-api-key/
Thanks!
February 1, 2017 at 6:00 am #352934I’ve now got the map working in the WordPress Admin panel / page editor, but still won’t show up once I update the page.
To reiterate, I do have a valid API key, and I turned off all restrictions, yet it still won’t show up on the live page.
Thanks in advance! You have no idea how much I appreciate the help, and I will be buying one of the paid products here in the next few days, almost certainly the social populator one.

Can anyone tell me what I should expect to lose (in terms of content) if I were to change themes?
February 1, 2017 at 6:10 pm #353413Hi,
in GeoDirectory >> Design > Map > Show / hide post type and category on map
You had Places checked so the map was hidden.
Now you need to create few place categories and assign them to your listings, or nothing will show up in the maps. Categories are mandatory.
You can install the dummy data to get few auto created and see how they works.
Thanks
February 2, 2017 at 4:37 am #353696Thanks for the advice. I did as instructed, and the result was semi-successful.
There are now maps appearing that are somewhere in the general vicinity of each listing’s specific location (same city/region), but the maps are not centering on each listing’s address-specific location on any pages, including the listings themselves and the maps tab on the listings page.
Anyone who accesses the site will already be familiar with the area that’s currently being depicted by the maps. If I can’t get them to display and center the exact location for each listing I’d prefer to be rid of them altogether.
If there’s no way to get the maps centered around each listing’s individual location, is there a way to remove the maps tab altogether?
Thanks again. I really do appreciate the help, as frustrating as this has been.
February 2, 2017 at 6:09 pm #354062Hi,
I’m not sure I understand the problem, please provide a link where it is visible and explain with more details.
Thanks
