So I have a customer that has driven me into a corner. I no longer can help her as I either do not understand what her error/issue is or she isn’t bothering to follow my instructions.

I do not have “help desk” experience so my patience has run thin. Here’s what’s going on with some details before our conversation:

She is on a Macbook Pro.
She has claimed to successfully listed several times. She “got sucessful notice” as she put it. (TBH I’m not sure what that means, as I told her she would receive an email when it has been published. She has not directly said she has received an email, only that the site has given her a success notice.)
I have NOT received a BCC admin email for a new listing.
I have TESTED my site to ensure it is functioning correctly. (Everything is fine, in fact I received both emails for my test listing.)
I am not sure if perhaps this is a user error, a Safari error (I do not have Safari to test), or something else I just don’t understand.

I’m hoping it’s the latter, so perhaps you guys would be able to help.

    My last email was this:

Once a listing is successfully published, you will receive an email (as do I). After the following steps are completed I explain what happens in the system.

Select a package (In this case, Basic Listing which is Free) (required)
Select YES or NO if you are business owner of the listing. (required)
    Type in a title. (required)
Type in a short description following our map guidelines as outlined here (required): http://www.tinyhousecommunity.com/map-overview-regulations/
Type in keywords or phrases separated by a comma (example: big bend ca, tiny house) (optional)
Select ONE category (Private Parking would be the appropriate selection) (required)
Type in your address, country, region, city, and zip. (required)
Click “Set Address On Map” to update the map.
Additionally, you can click and drag the map to the correct position instead of typing in an address. (if that’s easier)
Type in your phone number if you’d like to have it available to the public. (optional)
    Type in your email (required)
    Type in a website (optional)
Add a photo. Up to 5. (optional)
Check the box to agree to our terms and conditions (Full details here: http://www.tinyhousecommunity.com/map-overview-regulations/ )
    Click “Review Your Listing”

Once the page loads it will display a preview of your listing. You must click one of the three options at the top of the screen: Go back and edit, Cancel, or Publish.

Once you click publish, this is what happens:
    <niojgkfbbdmjiocj.png>

You will see a message similar to the one displayed in the above image.
You will receive an EMAIL that confirms the publication of your listing.
I will also receive an email that confirms publication of your listing.

All finished! If you follow these steps exactly you will be able to get your post listed successfully with no more issues. I just did a test listing to ensure this is functioning properly. You can see it here: http://www.tinyhousecommunity.com/thc/united-states/north-carolina-1/charlotte/private-parking/20-acres-for-rent/

I attached the image in the post here.

I’m just at a loss here. All her reply was to this email was:

I did all this exactly and got sucessful notice

    Any advice?

Not sure I understand correctcly, but I’ll have a go at explaining.

    1. I am assuming you have free listings that go to draft on submission.
    2. The message in the screenshot you posted says that the info is received, and the user can see it.
    3. That does not mean the info is published, the info is received subject to you publishing the listing.
    4. From what I gather that customer has submitted multiple listings that should still be in draft, so you should be able to verify that.
    5. I suggest if that is not the case, is to ask her to explain what a successful notice looks like that she gets.

    Thanks

There is no pending or draft listing. That was my initial thought as well so I checked. I only have “All” “Published” and “Trash” (which trash has my post in it).

I will ask her to take a screenshot. I feel her words are becoming more hostile over the course of our conversation because I kept asking her to explain it in more detail. 🙁 I’ve been trying to be so courteous and helpful but her 1-liner (5-word) replies are just sending me in circles.

I will follow up when I’ve heard from her.

I asked for a screenshot or more detailed explanation. This was her reply to me:

    I deleted it
    First sent
    Successful
    Then request to do again
    Did again
    Then you can’t find it

I just don’t even know how to help at this point. What do I even say to her at this point? She doesn’t answer my questions straight.

So, she said she doesn’t want to try listing again. I offered to list it for her.

    Heavy sigh…

Is this what it’s like in customer service? Heh, not sure if I’m cut out for this kind of work.

    I’m sure there isn’t a way, but I’ll ask…
Since I’m going to list it for her, is there a way to utilize business claim feature to allow her to take control of this listing? (So she doesn’t have to contact me to update it.)

If not, bummer. If so, great! (and please explain how)

Thanks for the help anyways. 🙂

That is exactly what the Claim Listings addon is for:
    https://wpgeodirectory.com/downloads/claim-listings/
    https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/claim-listings-add-on-overview/

    Thanks

PS: customer service sometimes get like that 🙂 But not that often, most of the time people are quite grateful, like you 🙂

Awesome! Hopefully she will actually claim it and not halfway do the job and come back to me saying it didn’t work. (lol)

I still feel like she just wasn’t hitting publish (instead thinking the review process was “successful”). I have had no issues previous to this woman with any listings.

And that’s good to hear. (Aw, thanks 🙂 )

    Hope this goes well,
    Thanks, Guust!
