This should be a simple task, but I have not found a best way to do this. My site uses a combination of physical listings along with “Online Only” listings that do not have a geographical presence. I thought of adding an Online Only country but that won’t disable the geo locating portion of the platform. An online only checkbox doesn’t help in that the user is still forced to enter an address to create a listing.

I can’t be the only person with this request but I also cannot find any solutions.

Unrelated question, is there a footer widget for cookies like the one geodirectory site uses?

    Thanks,
    Joel

    Hello,

Using the custom post types addon, you can:

    1. Create a new “Online Only”CPT
    2. Change settings : Geodirectory – General – Select CPT to disable physical location – Online Only

When you add widgets to your home page (which is also the location page) then you can use a widget like GD Popular Post view and restrict it to the Online Only and show those listings on every location page.

But then to create a listing, the user would have to select the online only cpt prior to creating a listing. So, rather than have a places listing where I can create behavior based on a checkbox and then an events listing, I will have 3 types of listings to choose from, online only cpt and then an events listing. To me, that is not the best user experience. Perhaps I am missing something?

    Thanks,
    Joel

Many members who use multiple CPTs create a page with explanations of each CPT and links that lead directly to the appropriate form (and package, if there are charges for listings).

If using one CPT, Places, and the CPT is using an address, that means that each listing will have an address.

Ok. Thanks. Is there documentation anywhere that discusses this concept or how to implement the cpt and integrate it?
