I’m sure this has been covered before numerous times so a pointer in the right direction would be appreciated.
Someone who is searching has just emailed to say that they can only find: limited listings i.e those in their area. when they tried to search again in another area – no listings were found…
how do i change this – URGENT.
thanks

September 12, 2014 at 3:16 pm #15186Hello, can you replicate the issue on your side?
It might be that some of the cities/areas on your website doesn’t have any listings in a certain categorySeptember 12, 2014 at 6:25 pm #15221Hi,
currently search works like this.
If location selected is Everywhere it will search in all locations
If location selected is a Country it will search only in that Country
If location selected is a Region it will search only in that Region
If location selected is a City it will search only in that CityAs many members are requesting it, we are working on a solution that will allow users to search in another city, even when they selected another location.
At the moment, the only solution is to explain how that works to your visitors.
Thx
September 14, 2014 at 1:21 pm #15354how can they re-set their search? clear caches?
September 14, 2014 at 1:32 pm #15355They can use the location switcher, on the menu bar, and set it to “everywhere” (for a global search)
September 14, 2014 at 7:52 pm #15367where is this switcher located – I’m not using your theme or the home page…
people are getting really annoyed that it doesnt reset when they arrive or search on the site – how can we change this
September 14, 2014 at 8:25 pm #15369To place the Switcher in your menu bar, you first need to create a menu in wordpress (appareance-menu), then assign it to GD (geodirectory-design-navigation), and then go to geodirectory-multilocation and enable “Show location switcher in menu”
September 14, 2014 at 8:35 pm #15370Ok thanks for the reply but I don’t want that in my menu!
I just want people to see all results – and make the choice to either zoom in or out, and search freely without being limited or having to fuss around changing this-and-that.
Without the effort of the user having to switch locations. What can I turn on or off so that when they return they aren’t limited.
Is there a temporary fix to it?
It’s a pressing matter as several of my clients want to know why other people aren’t listing with my business as they can’t see anyone…
September 14, 2014 at 8:38 pm #15371What you can do is to deactivate the “GeoDirectory Location Manager” from the wordpress plugins, so your users will not be redirected to their closest map (based on their location). And you can use your city/area as “default”. In this way the users will see the “global” map
September 15, 2014 at 2:35 pm #15427now people can’t add in their address – it defaults to another address….
this doesnt work either…
September 15, 2014 at 2:36 pm #15428could someone call me this is really frustrating and i’m losing business…
September 15, 2014 at 2:36 pm #15429This reply has been marked as private.September 15, 2014 at 2:38 pm #15430You mean people can’t add address when adding a listing? Could you please provide your URL and login credentials? thanks
September 15, 2014 at 2:39 pm #15431My apologies, you had to deactivate the plugin “GeoDirectory Share Location” not “GeoDirectory Location Manager”, I’m sorry for the confusion, reactivate GeoDirectory Location Manager.
September 15, 2014 at 2:41 pm #15433OK will this work? please….it’s sending me crazy….
