Hello,
I just noticed that postal search is not working on my site. For example, when I enter BN41 2WL into the search field on my homepage it says “0 results found for:”. I have also tested by inserting post codes for other listings from my site as well but the result is the same.
Another issue, it does not show any popular categories on the search results page. Can you let us know why this is so and how to fix this?
Thanks
August 10, 2017 at 6:23 am #390482Add a Popular Post Category widget to one of the GD Search sections.
Review https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/gd-search/#near regarding searching by ZIP code.
Thanks
August 10, 2017 at 7:41 am #390489We have already done that, I think we are not on the same page here. It does show the “Popular Categories” title but results are zero. What I want to know is how the plugin determines which categories are popular and which are not, where can I define these if there is a setting? Please take a look here https://www.autocarenetwork.co.uk/?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_place&sgd_placecategory%5B%5D=&s=+&snear=BN43+5PB&sgeo_lat=50.8330412&sgeo_lon=-0.28945199999998295
Thanks
August 10, 2017 at 1:01 pm #390524I guess you are not searching for a search term, if you use a search term, it will give a result:
https://www.autocarenetwork.co.uk/?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_place&sgd_placecategory%5B%5D=&s=cars&snear=&sgeo_lat=&sgeo_lon=Popular categories are shown in order of “popularity” relevant to the search or location; the more listings in the category, the more “popular”.
Your category text is white, so you cannot see them, see image.
This is a search for “car” and postcode search “BN5 9XH”:
https://www.autocarenetwork.co.uk/?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_place&sgd_placecategory%5B%5D=&s=car&snear=BN5+9XH&sgeo_lat=50.8836981&sgeo_lon=-0.2819535999999516
Seems right to me, the listings are near the center of the postcode area BN5 9XH.Thanks
August 14, 2017 at 12:22 pm #391068Okay that makes, just wondering if there is any way to change that setting to display search results based on the postal code searched instead of the keyword? Thanks
August 14, 2017 at 1:49 pm #391085That looks like some theme feature that is conflicting, if you provide wp-admin details in a private reply i will take a look.
Thanks,
Stiofan

trim( $_GET['s']to
isset( $_GET['s']If you upgrade the theme you would have to make this change or let us know and we will do it.
Thanks,

August 14, 2017 at 3:40 pm #391126Hello Stiofan,
Great, thanks so much. That’s a great help. I still think there is one more thing that needs correcting: on this page https://www.autocarenetwork.co.uk/?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_place&sgd_placecategory%5B%5D=&s=+&snear=bn36ab&sgeo_lat=50.8362494&sgeo_lon=-0.17186830000002828 it says 35 results found for: , don’t you think it should display the postcode BN36AB (the postcode that was searched) after the 😕 Please let us know.
Thanks

August 17, 2017 at 6:20 pm #391725Yes thanks, it looks fine now, but there is an extra comma before the postcode on the results page? Can you remove that please? Thanks
