Do I need to have “info” before the place or listing title (city/info/my-place) permalink? I noticed the demo site doesn’t have it but my site came with it.

Is it recommended? How can I remove it if it’s not required?

You spotted the improved permalink construction in the demo.
In the new release you will not need “info” or anything else in your URL if you don’t want to. I am afraid you’ll just have to wait a bit longer … 🙂

Thank you, Guust. So the recommended structure is the one we see on the demo site? We can still expect the new version this coming Monday, right?

In addition, did you see my thread regarding changing the search placeholder value (Search for)? It doesn’t work when I change “Search for” to something else.

Not sure what would be recommended, that depends what you want I guess; short URLs or URLs with as much info as possible.
You can choose not to use the location in the URL if you want them shorter. Not that I am a SEO-er but I think URLS with more info about the page (including location) might be more SEO-friendly.

Regarding the search question, I can’t replicate the same problem, you might have some other conflict?

If I leave the default value inside the Search For box, the user can leave that box blank or as-is. They can then search just by entering the location in the “Near” box.

But if I change “Search for” to something else like Keywords, it doesn’t. It keeps searching for “Keywords+Location” although the user didn’t enter anything in the Search For box.

I like to keep the Search For box optional which is the default setting but I like to change “Search for” to “Keywords (optional)” or “Business Name” (optional).

    Hi Guust,

    Here’s a screenshot.

Right, done a bit more testing, and whenever I change “search for” to anything else, a empty search does not return any results, but with “search for” an empty search returns everything.
Have a look at the URL if you use “Keywords”; the Keywords term is what will be searched for. That should not happen. If you use “Search for” the search term in the URL will be empty, that is how it should be.
It seems to be fixed in the new version, so stand-by …

Looks like we were both writing at the same time 🙂

Thank you. Yes, that should not happen. The default placeholder value should switch to blank when the user doesn’t enter a value and display all places or listings in the location he entered.
