Registration question regarding email field in Add listing

    Hi,

    This is a multi-part question, sorry if it’s already been addressed.

    The new user types his full name and email address into the registration form
    after selecting ‘add listing’. A password and login link is then sent.

    Regardless of this email, the user can continue to fill out the Add listing form for the respective custom post-type and is asked to type in an email address again.

    1. What is the purpose of asking for the email address again? On our site, there is no notification sent to the user or admin regarding this second request for an email address. if they use a different email address in this field than in the opening registration form, neither the user nor admin is notified.

    2. Since we use a pricing table to direct the user to the correct Post-type, once the user has his credentials to log in, is there a way that we can just show a login screen (i.e. wp-admin login), or create a link, rather than the dual login/registration screen. The reason is, we don’t want New users to be able to bypass our pricing table. Or, is this a custom programming job?

    3. We were thinking of also using Buddypress for our members. Would this Buddypress login be the same as the login for GD or is it completely different. Just wondering if we could just use one login to do both?

    Hi,

    1) the user may want to use an email address to register that is not the email address to contact the business he’s submitting.

    Imagine a yelp type of website where customers of restaurants list places they visit to review them. The user email would be forced as contact for the restaurant.

    2) custom programming job. You should show the pricing table only to logged in user.

    3) would be the same.

    Thanks for clearing that up Paolo. Since I’m only thinking about signing up new members for our association, I forgot that we would have clients leaving feedback/reviews for our members.

    I have installed Buddypress, after doing a little experimentation, it does look like I can configure a slightly extended profile for the initial registration using BUddyPress, then direct the new user (using are pricing table) to go to the particular Custom post-type that they select and add their listing.

    Then I can create a page dedicated to the Buddypress members, groups, etc that
    also has a GD desktop to view there listings, add events and so on.

    The problem is, I would have to have Buddypress as the registration page, and the GD Login as the sign in page.

    Is this the right way to do it or am I looking at it wrong?

    When Buddypress is integrated into GD will this solve my problem or will the
    integration be mainly for styling.

    Thanks, this is the last hump I have to get over before I send it to someone to make it look pretty.
