I’m having trouble with a client’s website – their “Near” search box doesn’t return any results.

Here is their directory – you can try searching for “Plymouth” as there are multiple results there, yet nothing shows. Same goes for “London”.

Any reasons why this may be happening?

Your location manager needs updating: the GD core plugin is the latest, but the location manager is quite a few versions behind.
Do that first and then we can check again. Thanks.

Also review https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/gd-search/#near for the difference between IN Plymouth and NEAR THE CENTRE of Plymouth.

    Thanks

Thanks – how do I update the location manager plugin? No updates are showing as available.

You will have to overwrite with FTP, or use this plugin: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/useful-plugins/#easy
It does not show an update because the new version is using a different license system.

Did you make any changes? The directory has completely disappeared!

EDIT: I have fixed this. The page appears to have been altered…

We assigned your ticket to a developer who will let you know asap why the search isn’t working as expected.

What do you mean by “The page appears to have been altered…”?

    Let us know,

    Thanks

Thanks. And after I gave your team access, the GD home page had been changed for some reason.

You mean that the page selected at GD permalinks is a different page selected now?
Or that the content of the page has been changed?

    Please review https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/basic-installation/#home
The page selected at GD > Permalinks > GD Home page should be “Location” if you want to use a non-GD page as your site’s homepage.

    Thanks
