Dear all,
I was just navigating through our GEODIRECTORY plugin and found out a really strange problem. As showed in the image bellow, when I make a search using the city name “Campinas” (which is actually the name of the city we are based in), instead of showing the correct places nearby the city, the geodirectory loses its references: all the points appear to be in the same place (see map) and all the places registered appear to be at 0 (zero) distance (even if they are properly registered in another city).I am considering that this might be a bug – maybe the plugin is extending the search to the user (the one who has registered the places) profile city name (the original city from the user that posted all places is Campinas).
If I put other city name in the search field (or even a complete address in Campinas city) there is no problem.
February 21, 2017 at 5:24 pm #362920Hi,
please provide a link and admin credentials in a private reply, and we will have a look at your website.
We can’t recreate a similar error in any of our demos, so it must be a conflict with something else on your website.
Let us know,
Thanks

February 22, 2017 at 9:21 pm #363218p.s. are you 100% sure that each place doesn’t have the exact same lat and lon coordinates?

I just checked the 1st few places that appear in that search result page and they have the exact same lat and long as I suspected:
Beto Loko Motorcycle -22.9099384 / -47.06263319999999
NoCanto Bar -22.9099384 / -47.06263319999999
Zelão Racing -22.9099384 / -47.06263319999999
Ponto 9 Beer Pub -22.9099384 / -47.06263319999999???
Thanks
February 23, 2017 at 10:18 pm #363488Thanks for the analisys. Actually I just investigated why the coordinates for some places were the same and I found out that there is an issue in the registry screen, as follows:
1. While regestering a new place address, the autofill quicky identifies the address as showed in picture 1.
2. It happens that when I click the autofill, the city name is NOT automatically fulfilled as it should be (it actually starts to be fulfilled but then disappears).
3. Then I have to input it manually before choosing the option “mark address in the map”. But after doing so the city name disappears again.I believe that this error is causing users to register mistaken coordinations.
Besides, I also have one doubt: how can a user search for a specific cathegory in a specific city? is there a way to have a city filter?
February 23, 2017 at 10:56 pm #363497I asked to one of the developers to follow up and see if he can identify what’s causing the issue.
He’ll let you know asap.
Thanks for your patience,
February 24, 2017 at 4:29 am #363527Hi Marcos,
Looked in to your site and found that your site is running with old version of WP & GD + GD Plugins.
Site is running with GeoDirectory v1.6.8 which is too older than current one v1.6.17 & GeoDirectory Location Manager v1.5.0 which is too older than current one v1.5.31Please update WP & GD + GD Plugins, so we can assist you if problem still exists after updates.
Thanks,
KiranFebruary 24, 2017 at 11:15 am #363585Hello, Kiran,
It actually took some time so that I could translate the whole plugin to Portuguese and I was avoiding to update in order not to lose the translations made.Is there any way to keep the translations after this update?
February 24, 2017 at 11:27 am #363587Hello,
If you are following standard method (.po files in /wp-content/languages) to translate plugins then the update not affect the existing translations.
Never seen any case, where translations was lost on update. We have many customers using our plugins on multi-language site. You can take backup before update so you can revert back it if find any problem after update.
Thanks
February 24, 2017 at 10:04 pm #363747I can confirm what Kiran said, if the translation files are saved where they should be saved, see following link: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/translating-addons/
there is no way that an update will overwrite them.
Thanks
