Hi,
I’ve been finding that my search queries can take up to 1 minute to complete. For example, from my home page: https://www.getaboutable.com when I search for: “Accommodation / All / Sydney”, it often takes 40 seconds for results to be returned. How can I speed this up?
Thanks,
AndrewDecember 8, 2018 at 12:09 pm #457652I got an error when trying a search: Error establishing a database connection
More resources for the DB would be one option.
I will flag your topic for the developers so they can share any guidance they have.
December 8, 2018 at 12:11 pm #457653That error is the other thing. I get that every now and then and am not sure why.
In terms of more resources for the DB, have a look at the screenshot I’ve attached – do you believe I need more resources?
December 8, 2018 at 12:38 pm #457656The developers have asked if you can share credentials to the site so they can take a look.
WP Admin, FTP, and DB all would be helpful.
If you haven’t already please install the Query Monitor plugin.

December 8, 2018 at 1:04 pm #457659Hello,
I looked in Query Monitor and search query hardly takes time of 0.0010 sec.
I found that there are some more requests from plugin “Flow-Flow” and also some PHP warnings there. You can see it in debug.log after enabling debug via wp-config.log.Please try disabling non-gd plugins and see if any affect in time speed. This will help to find whether it is search queries affecting speed or something else.

December 8, 2018 at 1:16 pm #457660I’ve disabled the “Flow-flow” plugin and I’m finding the performance is the same. Funnily enough, right now all searches I perform are taking 8-10 seconds to complete, however I’ve timed it previously and it was literally taking up to 1 minute.
I’ve been using the cPanel tool: “CPU and Concurrent Connection Usage” and have found that when I perform 2 searches concurrently for ‘All’ post types in all locations (on front page set Category to “All” and leave others fields as default) – the CPU usage hits 99%. Could maxing out CPU be a reason why some searches take a long time to complete?
December 8, 2018 at 6:13 pm #457690the website appear to be overall very slow, not just the search: https://www.dotcom-tools.com/website-speed-test.aspx#6DDA51377F87431C955AA747E7B0C1A8.
What kind of server are you using? Most likely it is time to upgrade to a better VPS or dedicated server…
December 11, 2018 at 12:28 am #457962Hi, we’ve moved to a VPS and search queries are still very slow … Could you have a look to see the cause? I’ve confirmed that our theme (Divi) isn’t the issue.
December 11, 2018 at 12:33 am #457963Are all credentials same as in old server?
If not please provide them again.
Thank you

I get this error now:
Your connection is not secure
The owner of http://www.getaboutable.com.au has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website.
Please fix that error and we will follow up.

December 11, 2018 at 7:54 pm #458058Hi,
I’m not getting that error … please see screenshot.

December 11, 2018 at 8:52 pm #458063You probably added it as an exception on your browser, but I do see the error on both Firefox and Chrome.
Thanks
