Most directory themes allow you to set how many cats/sub-cats and locations a client can use. Is there a way for me to over-ride this in admin? In other words, can I put a client in an extra cat/sub-cat if I want to? And can I indicate multiple locations?
If so, how?
June 2, 2015 at 9:04 pm #41358Hi,
each listing can only be in one location. You can define features of each listings (how many categories, images and which field to enable/disable) using the Prices and Payments addon: https://wpgeodirectory.com/addons/prices-and-payments/
Thanks
June 2, 2015 at 9:09 pm #41361Apparently, I didn’t explain my question very well. Let me try again…
I have two questions:
1) I want to know if there is a limit to how many categories and/or sub-categories a business can be listed in? And if there is a way that I can over-ride it in admin vs. their sign in page?
2) I want to know if a client with two locations, can have multiple markers placed on their map?
Thanks!
June 2, 2015 at 9:47 pm #41374Hi,
the question were clear and the answers remain the same:
1) without the Prices and Payments add-on there are no limits to the number of categories a business can select.
Once you install that addon you can manipulate the add listing form creating prices plans (that can be free of charge too) where you can, for example, limit the number of categories accepted.
2) No, each listing can only appear in 1 location. 1 Marker per map. If they have 2 locations, they have to insert 2 listings.
Thank you
October 3, 2015 at 2:34 pm #55603Paolo,
Is there a way to override the number of categories for a specific client(s), as an admin as needed?
October 3, 2015 at 2:42 pm #55606Hi,
only by changing price package too.
You can’t as an admin assign more than what the price package allows.
Thanks
October 4, 2015 at 3:18 am #55661Thanks Paola for all your help.
Can I create a price package that is only visible to admin (hidden to clients)?
October 5, 2015 at 5:46 pm #55804Not really, but you could hide it with CSS for customers from the front end.
Let us know if this could be enough.
Thanks,
p.s. my name is Paolo (boy)
October 5, 2015 at 6:00 pm #55808Paolo,
I’m a little confused… how can this “You can as an admin assign more than what the price package allows.” work?
October 5, 2015 at 6:08 pm #55809I’m really sorry, I meant you can’t.
I’ve corrected my sentence.
Thanks
October 5, 2015 at 6:11 pm #55811Thanks for clarifying.
So then my next question is this… It appears that SUB-categories (i.e. under the category called “Restaurants”) are selected, they are counting towards the number of categories offered for a price package.
Is there a way to allow multiple SUB-categories, without interfering with the category restriction?
October 5, 2015 at 6:18 pm #55812Hi,
that is not possible, sub-catgeories are counted just like categories.
Thanks
October 5, 2015 at 6:20 pm #55814So it appears then, that the only way around this would be to create a separate price packages for categories with multiple sub-cats?
Correct? Or other ideas?
And thanks Paolo. I greatly appreciate your help!
October 5, 2015 at 10:45 pm #55864Yes that would be the only option.
Thank you
October 5, 2015 at 10:48 pm #55865Great. Thanks Paolo!
I’ve already set up the restaurant category accordingly, and it works like a charm!
