    Hi there,

I’m using Geodirectory on my website, which is a guide to the food and drink scene in Bristol, England. I’m using the plugin to create a directory of food and drink businesses in the city, and am finding it pretty great so far.

However, I’ve encountered a problem – I’m trying to add a business that is not within the city centre, but still has a Bristol postcode, and Geodirectory isn’t allowing me to do so. This is pretty annoying, as surely anywhere with a city’s postcode should be included within the location restrictions?

Please do let me know if there’s a solution to this – if not, I think I’m going to need to look for an alternative directory plugin 🙁

    Thanks,

    Emily

GD takes its cities and towns from the Google API, and as far as I know is not based on postcode, but on city name. So if Google thinks the business is located in a suburb (or whatever you call outlying areas in the UK) with a different name than Bristol, you will need the GD Multilocations addon: https://wpgeodirectory.com/addons/multilocation/
That will allow you to add businesses with a different city address than Bristol.
Can you post the exact address you want to add and your URL, then we can have a better look, you can do that in a private message if you like.

Hi, we had a similar problem with some Cardiff neighbourhoods that for some reason Google Maps API was returning as separate locations.

Let us know an example of an address that is not recognized as being within Bristol city limits and we will check to see if it’s fixable.

    Thx

Hi there – the exact address that I’m looking to add is Myrtle Farm, Station Rd, Sandford, Winscombe BS25 5RA.

My directory can be found at http://www.bristolbites.co.uk/directory/.

I really need a directory plugin that recognises all BS postcode areas as being within Bristol…

    Many thanks,

    Emily

    Hi,

this situation is completely different from the Cardiff’s example.

Sandford isn’t a Bristol neighbourhood. It is a village 15 miles away from Bristol according to both Google Maps and Wikipedia.

It will be impossible for GeoDirectory to recognize that as part of the City Bristol.

You need the multilocation addon to add listings is both Bristol and Sandford or any other village around Bristol.

    Thanks
