I am trying to set up the locations page and I am not sure if i’m missing something.
I added an event in my hometown of Sudbury Ontario. When I go to the locations page I get all the other listings.
Google maps is also not working even though I have an api all set up.
I am also getting an error saying “geo location is not available in your browser”
I will feel much better if we can get this portion fixed up. Do you guys need a login to take a look?
July 5, 2019 at 1:46 pm #496409Hello,
For the API key, make sure, like, triply sure, you have setup billing or the key will not work as expected.
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/integrations/google/To use browser geolocation you must have SSL in place.
About the location page, try adding a GD Listings element there with the shortcode builder and make sure Location filter is enabled.
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/templates/location/please share WP Admin credentials in a private reply and in case we need to take a look at the settings.
July 5, 2019 at 2:09 pm #496414Oh so I need to pay for the geo location to work? That is unexpected.
I really believe you guys should look into a quick start guide or video. Something to let you know everything you need and an upfront idea of extras to get up and running. I had no idea it wouldn’t work without a paid google account or an ssl. It makes sense but having that information upfront I could have had that prepared and would have saved me some frustration.
It seems without a paid google account or SSL your plugin won’t work as expected so that should be made more clear.
Anyways I will set that up and let you know if i have any other questions.
Cheers!

Thanks for your reply. Sorry, I’m not sure what you mean by this. But I’m able to search for location “Sudbury” and I’m getting results as shown in the attached.
July 8, 2019 at 2:12 pm #496669Yes it is working for me now too.
I do have a proper google maps and ssl on the site now. I am no longer getting an error when i try and search with the “near me”
I get everything not the “test” event for sudbury. Same thing with the location page. I have the locations manager installed but that doesn’t seem to be working.
July 8, 2019 at 2:13 pm #496670so to be clear it’s the “near me” option and the location page that I am having a hard time with. Once this is fixed i think we should be good to go!
July 8, 2019 at 2:34 pm #496675Also is there a way to setup a categories page. So I will link all the categories but it will search within a specific city?
So if i’m in Sudbury I can set that as my location and browse all the categories within that location?
July 8, 2019 at 6:00 pm #496694Use the GD Categories element to get the category links
July 8, 2019 at 7:42 pm #496712Hi appme,
Thanks for your reply. You can try using the “Category Filter” as explained here https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/addons/advanced-search/#select
July 11, 2019 at 8:33 pm #497226Next question. Is there a way to default the location page to events and not places?
July 11, 2019 at 8:46 pm #497233Hi appme, please make a new topic for future questions.
The Location page is special and can display all CPTs/listings that are in a location.
Edit it and add GD Listings shortcodes that have the location filter enabled.
July 12, 2019 at 12:17 am #497263I’m confused on how to do this. Your documentation doesn’t say anything on how to actually build it. Do I just mess around with the shortcode builder? Won’t it just show all listings if i use that? I really wish you guys would actually give me real advice instead of sending me a link to documentation that doesn’t explain anything. It’s very frustrating.
July 12, 2019 at 12:19 am #497264In the documentation it references this supreme san fransico page… how would I make this
https://wpgeo.directory/supreme-directory/events/united-states/california/san-francisco/
this is more or less exactly what I’m looking for.. You need to do some serious work on instructions. This plugin is very difficult to work with when you don’t know what everything does
