I’ll send my credentials in the next post. I need some help with the configuration of the widgets and navigation as I seem to have messed a few things up. The site is still in development, not live yet. Just trying to get GeoDirectory configured correctly before I start adding all the records. Clearly I’ve messed it up and need help getting my settings right (my map isn’t showing any listings, there’s only 1 “recently added” and it’s producing a fatal error even though I have more than 250 records) and nothing is displaying on the right hand sidebar.

In the top nav, the only thing I want to show is: /find-a-contractor/ – this is what I want to funnel users to use to start their search.

That should take users to a page with the map up top and the search boxes below. Then in the content area, it would have all of the recently added places (20). On the right sidebar, I’m looking to have:
    • Dashboard
    • “Change Location” widget (I’d like this in the side bar instead of my top nav)
    • Link Widget – Text “View list of all locations” (clicks to /list-roofers-all-locations/)
    • Featured Places (that I can use to show 4 featured listings – I don’t have any featured listings yet, but can you put the widget there so I can make it show up shortly)

    Can you help me?

    1. Add a link to Find a contractor at Appearance > Menus > Top (Top Navigation)

    2. If you use a non-GD homepage then you need to set GD-home to the same as the location page at GD > Permalinks: FIXED
    See also https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/basic-installation/#home

    3. But this is the main error: PHP Fatal error:

Call to undefined function mb_strpos() in /home/xxxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/geodirectory/geodirectory-functions/custom_functions.php on line 101

You need to ask your server admin to install the missing php modeule: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9692157/php-missing-mb-strpos-function
