Hi Guys
I think it would be good to start a sticky post where users can link to and showcase how they have integrated or setup Geo Directory so that others can generate ideas for their own sites.
Ideas such as
Layout
Advertising Spots
Functionality
PluginsAny one thats interested can see mine at http://supplierdirectory.eventindustrynews.co.uk
Still under construction

July 4, 2014 at 12:05 am #7402@greg, good to see an attractive boxed design and it presents well in mobile view too! I see you have avoided using the location filters, which is an issue I have struggled with!
@Punch, I didn’t spend much time with the GD theme I’ll be interested in seeing how it pans out. Thanks for listing all your add-ons, knowing which ones are compatible will be important.
July 4, 2014 at 11:51 pm #7482Hi Greg,
What has been your experience using Canvas with GeoDirectory? Any major problems? – Also, just curious if you have used Canvas with BuddyPress. (I am needing this)
Appreciate your time!

July 5, 2014 at 3:38 am #7505@dnosker First off, this is the first site I’ve built with either Canvas or GeoDirectory, so I’m not a master of either. (In fact, it’s the first WP site I’ve built in over 6 years – we are primarily a Drupal shop.)
That said, we had no major issues that couldn’t be resolved in css. If you’re interested, I’ve attached a file (gd.txt) with the css customizations we used to integrate GD into a Canvas child theme.
I haven’t used Canvas with BuddyPress yet, but we are about to start a project that will, so stay tuned.
July 10, 2014 at 8:13 pm #8115Hi, this is my site.
I made some modifications to automatically locate you and guide you to your destination:July 15, 2014 at 4:01 pm #8523All the sites look great! Julian what theme are you using?
July 15, 2014 at 7:57 pm #8555It’s the default template, justmark, GeoDirectory Framework Theme, but i’ve added a slideshow on the head, and a plugin for auto-locate.
July 16, 2014 at 12:43 am #8572It does look good Julian, the slider makes a big impression – did you create that yourself?
Can you tell us what auto-locate plugin you used, and why you didn’t use the GD one?
July 16, 2014 at 8:28 am #8629Thanks Purpleedge, yes, i use revolution slider for the slide show
Why my own plugin?, well, i use my own plugin because, it does what I need: I need the system locate my position, and show me the path to get to my destination, and that does not make GD plugin.July 17, 2014 at 4:17 pm #8859@gregmount
Hi Greg,Please let me know how your experience with buddypress goes using Canvas. It is the only unknown that I am facing with switching to Canvas and don’t want to purchase it unless it is a doable thing. 🙂
Thanks,
Dave
July 18, 2014 at 1:58 am #8929Hi Dave,
Only minor issues with buddyPress in Canvas: buttons are borked, but easily fixed with css. Stuff like that. Should be fine.
Cheers,
gAugust 2, 2014 at 1:56 am #10730Hi Dave,
Hope you don’t mind my asking. I was searching through Avada forum to try to solve the problem of some strange html tag on the top of the page. I tried the proposed function but it actually gave me a blank page. I recognized your avatar and was just wondering if you were able to solve it. If so, could you give me a hint?
Thanks so much!
August 2, 2014 at 1:59 am #10731Unfortunately I was not… I also switched to another theme (Genesis) because of all the problems I still had with Avada. However, I did experience something almost the same in Genesis and found it was a buddypress plugin (#Hashtags) that was causing. Doubt it would be your problem but just in case…
Good Luck!
August 2, 2014 at 4:48 am #10740Hi Dave,
Good evening.
Thanks so much for the info. I really appreciate your helping me. I thought about Genesis as well but I’ve never tried it. Best of luck on your developments and hope you’ll have a great weekend.
Thanks again.
