Hi,
I have tried to use both Yoast and Rank Math (separately) to test this issue.
I can’t seem to replace the default open graph image with that of the featured image. This is mainly an issue on the details pages.is there a solution within GeoDirectory I can be pointed towards?
thanks.
April 15, 2020 at 10:29 pm #540468How are you trying to do that? Programmatically? With SEO settings?
Are you running 20088 now?
We have a fix coming in the next version for the og data on the archive pages.
April 16, 2020 at 9:31 am #540563– It is now working! –
When I checked again this morning and it wasn’t working. So i tried to test it by creating a test blog post (not a place) and that was using the featured image in the og:image.
Checking on the geoDir place pages they were still using the default set image from Rank Math. On clearing the default image the og:image tag would be removed and Facebook debugger would pick up on the link rel:image_source.
Adding a default image back to Rank Math this time didn’t update the OG:image with the default but with the image link rel:image_source.I don’t know if my cache wasn’t clearing or if there was an issue, but i do know that prior to this ticket i did test.
Sorry for wasting your time. I will keep an eye on it as social sharing is large part of this site.
I am using Version 2.0.0.88 with Location Manager Version 2.0.0.24.
April 17, 2020 at 11:40 am #540847Hi,
On further investigation i need to revisit this ticket.
My comment above is actually incorrect.
The default image I used within Rank Math wasn’t taken as a default, so the results from the Facebook Debugger was using the rel:image_source.I am now using Version 2.0.0.89 & Location Manager Version 2.0.0.24.
(side note that may not be relevant, but i have 2 other bugs on my site that i will post tickets for. 1, When showing locations ([gd_locations what=”city”]) i only get the default result. 2, When using categories on menu it is filtered for the current post ([gd_categories post_type=”0″ max_level=”1″ max_count=”all” max_count_child=”all” no_cpt_filter=”1″ no_cat_filter=”1″ title_tag=”h4″ sort_by=”count”]) )
April 18, 2020 at 1:55 am #541025Can you clarify, again, what you are doing? You are trying to replace the featured image (OG) with a Rank Math image?
April 18, 2020 at 10:30 am #541074Nope, the other way. The featured image on a place page isn’t being picked up and used as the OG:image by Rank Math or Yoast. I will do some more testing over the weekend on the plugins as the results are inconsistent, which could point to a mismatch with CloudFlare caching and one of the plugins.
April 19, 2020 at 11:31 am #541211So the testing is done and I’m still not getting the place featured image in to the og:image via Rank Math or Yoast.
I have created a default image in Rank Math, this should be used only when a featured image is not on the post.
Creating a normal blog post without a featured image the default is shown.
Creating a normal blog post with a featured image the featured image is shown.
When creating a place in GD without a featured image the default is shown.
When creating a place in GD with a featured image the default it shown. Is there a way that i would not have to upload a social graphic for every place i have added to GD?
April 20, 2020 at 8:30 pm #541450Of course, that is what fallback images are for:
