I used GD to translate my countries to Japanese and have created listings for my “Business” CPT in both English and Japanese. The default site language is Japanese and the Japanese pages work fine, e.g.:
https://マッサージ.com/店/日本/東京都/港区/erawan/
ホーム > 店 > 日本 > 東京都 > 港区 > ErawanAs you can see, each segment of the URL matches the breadcrumbs and everything works great. However, if I click the WPML language switcher to go the corresponding English page, the URL and Breadcrumbs aren’t what I expect/want:
https://マッサージ.com/en/businesses/日本/東京都/港区/erawan/
Home > Businesses > 日本 > Tokyo > Minato-ku > ErawanIn this case, the country, region, and city URL segments are still in Japanese and after hours of research and trying things I can’t find a way to translate them. Also, the country name in the breadcrumbs is in Japanese for some reason.
Worst case scenario, I can live with the URL issue, but I can’t have Japanese showing up on the English site. I manually translated the region and city URL segments in WPML string translation but not luck finding the country there.
Can the country be in English in the breadcrumbs?
May 14, 2017 at 4:14 am #378239Did you translate the countries in the GD Core language file?
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/translating-countries-and-map-directions/Thanks
May 14, 2017 at 4:16 am #378240Yes, I followed that to the letter and it worked great. But it seems to use the translated URL slug and text everywhere (regardless of the current language).
May 14, 2017 at 4:24 am #378241I’ll get Kiran to have a look after the weekend.
Can you post your WP admin details for him in a private reply?
ThanksMay 14, 2017 at 4:42 am #378242Can I provide a duplicator package instead?

Country, region & city slugs can’t be translated for each language. Because these slugs must be same for all languages. Country, region & city slugs are only allowed to translated to any one language and that slugs used within other languages.

We need look into your site. Let us provide admin & FTP credentials.Let us know.

Is there some technical limitation here or just something that hasn’t been implemented yet?
If I really wanted my URLs to be fully in two languages, could I create my own set of locations, i.e. one called “東京” (which means Tokyo) and one actually called “Tokyo” and just add my Japanese Tokyo listings to “東京” and my English Tokyo listings to “Tokyo?” Technically GD would know them as two separate locations but I don’t need to show English and Japanese listings on the same page so it might not be an issue for me…

Is it possible to use the duplicator package? If not, I can set up a copy of the site (I can’t give out the production credentials). Thanks!

There are technical limitation, so regions & cities are not translatable. It explained here https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/country-state-abbreviations-in-url/#post-246282> Is it possible to use the duplicator package? If not, I can set up a copy of the site (I can’t give out the production credentials).

This problem can be your site specific, because we can’t recreate this problem in our test site. Wo we have to look into your site, to find what causing this problem. If you don’t want to provide production site details, then you can setup dev or test site and provide admin/FTP details for that site.Let us know.
Thanks,

May 17, 2017 at 7:29 am #378721Hi kairei,
Thank you for providing staging site details. I checked in back-end and found all settings fine.
Now we have to look into database entries in locations table & listing table. So please provide FTP details & Database access for the staging site. Thanks,
