Good evening,
I’m working on figuring out the behind the scenes portions of my page before I add too much content. I’ve made sure to have enough content that I could get things working. I’m using listimia, and elementor and can craft a “places” post that I’m good with. Since I’ll have in the neighborhood of 50 similar entries that I’ll be doing all of myself I decided to create a template that I could start from each time. I’ve never made a template before and once I made it, I couldn’t figure out how to load it when I started a new “places” post.
I continued to poke around and found if I changed the “page layout” setting to default I got what seemed to be at least close to my template. I was pleased with where I was, but when I selected the preview to see if my sidebar and widget was showing up, the page appeared as only text. To further complicate matters, changing the “page layout” setting seemed to work on my existing mockup pages, but when done on a new place post did nothing but give me a blank page. I’ve attached screenshots below which are hopefully self-explanatory based on this post, any help would be appreciated.

March 4, 2020 at 10:47 am #533463Hi there,
Thanks for your post. I’ve checked your screenshots and I don’t see any options related to GD. Could you please share your Website WP admin access here in private reply so that we could check out your GD setup?
March 4, 2020 at 10:52 am #533464You will need Elementor Pro. Use the theme builder to create a single. You can import the layout you have been working on.
Save that with the condition GD Places -> All
Please review the usage docs here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/integrations/builders/
If you are new to Elementor’s theme builder you can find more docs on the plugin author’s website.

As you do not have pro installed, you will not be able to use Elementor except on the Location and GD Archive Item templates/page.
Instead try using the default WP Page GD Details template.
March 4, 2020 at 3:28 pm #533540Thanks. I’ve got pro on my other site, so I’ll go ahead and upgrade here too and see if that helps.
March 5, 2020 at 2:32 am #533665Good evening,
I’ve upgraded to Wlementor Pro and having the same issue. Things look good in the edit screen, then just text in the preview screen. Was working fine earlier yesterday.

I’ve upgraded to Elementor Pro, and I have created used the theme builder to create a template. It seemed to work great, I was able to load it and edit it to my new places post details and everything looks great, but once published or previewed it does not come through the way it appears in the elementor editor. Sorry if I’m missing something basic, I’ll get this eventually!
March 7, 2020 at 12:40 pm #534179Make sure you have followed the instructions.
Set the WP pages for the gd details and archive items to the default content and remove elementor.
If you do that it should work fine.
March 7, 2020 at 2:33 pm #534187Good morning. I believe I have both of those settings correct and it’s still not working. What do you mean by remove Elementor?
March 7, 2020 at 3:20 pm #534190For example, on the gd details template, the WP Page selected in the GD settings, edit that page in the WP backend and select ‘Return to classic editor’ so Elementor is removed from the page.
March 7, 2020 at 4:59 pm #534204Sorry if I’m particularly dense. I’ve edited the GD Details template under pages, and it saves and previews fine (if I back out of elementor it predictably kills all my elmentor elements isn’t that the reason to use elementor pro?). I can preview the the GD Details page without issue (if I back out of elementor the elementor portions are broken, if not it looks great), but regardless of what I do there when I go to create a new places page it does not seem to be pulling from that template.
If I start a new place page and drag in the template from elementor pro’s widgets it appears fine, but is not there on preview no matter whether I back out of elementor or not.
I feel like there might be something small and basic I’m missing that will make all this work. Is there a setting that controls where the places type pages draw their templates from?
I’m using listimia too if that is making a difference.
Thanks again for all the help.
