Hi – me again… sorry to be such a pain.

I have my new geosite up and running and beta testers are adding place listings. By far the biggest problem I have is with the location markers. I am using Open Source Maps

My directory is for cross-country ski areas, which are often in remote locations, far from any city and definitely not at any known address.

Even though I left all the “Show city” and “show address” fields unchecked, the LOCATION and CITY fields still show as mandatory fields on the Add Listing Form:

    https://xskidirectory.com/add-listing/?listing_type=gd_place

Is there a way to disable those fields and so the user can just drag the map marker to the trailhead?

Here is an example of how the problem plays out. This listing is in British Columbia, Canada and that’s where the marker is positioned on the map, but the address fields insist on labelling the address as being in “Plymouth, British Columbia, USA” which is ANOTHER COUNTRY!

Also, I set my location to Minnesota but I wish the default map was a wider view of North America. How is that achieved?

    Thanks!

Those fields are required. In many cases rural OSM data can be improved. I can only recommend you switch to Google so you can geocode more accurately.
