    Hi

I would like the site visitor to be asked the question to enable them to geolocate themselves and read a support thread which mentioned Geodirectory -> Advanced Search and an option to allow/disallow there.

I don’t seem to have the option though in version 1.6.25

    Can you assist please?

    Many thanks

    Chris

    Hi Chris,

Are you referring to the options mentioned here? https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/search-filters-overview/#redirect . If you need us to check further, please share WP admin access to your Website. You can post the details here using the private reply option below.

    Thanks!

    Hi

I’m not sure that I need that level of complexity. I just want the user to be asked if they would like to be ‘located’ and for the system to do so. Is that possible please?

    Thanks

    Hi Chris,

It’s possible. You just need to have the “Advanced Search” addon https://wpgeodirectory.com/downloads/advanced-search-filters/ and SSL activated on your domain to achieve that.

    Thanks!

Thanks very much – that looks just the thing.

Finally, will it be possible to set it so that it always geolocates? This could be very useful for users on mobiles browsers.

    Thanks again

    Chris

    Hi Chris,

Yes, you can. But every time it tries to geolocate, it will ask the user for permission.

    Thanks!

    Hi

I have installed the Advanced Search plugin however the site doesn’t ask me to allow location access (unless I choose the ‘near me’ option in the search field) and still centres the map in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

I can’t see any more settings to get this function to work.

    Can you assist please?

    Thanks

    Chris

    Hi Chris,

Sorry, I left out one thing. You need to purchase the “Location Manager Addon” to get it to work. https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/search-filters-overview/#redirect

    Thanks!

    Hi Kor

OK, I have purchased and installed the additional plugin and I am still located in the middle of the Pacific ocean!

Please, can you assist? I don’t want to purchase any more add-ons.

    Thanks

Did you set your default location?

    Hi Joy

Thanks for your input. Yes, I set that but it still doesn’t ask to geolocate.

Hmmm. Sorry, I would suggest you review the settings: Geodirectory > Advanced Search

    1. Geolocation Settings
    2. Redirection Settings

Also maybe try to clear your browser cache or try on another browser/device. The Geolocation setup can be a bit confusing.
