    Hi,

I manually entered 3 records in WordPress and exported the data to an Excel file which now contains 3k records. I read Geodirectory documentation and all of the address fields, lat/long, website data is filled in. However, not all records contain email and social media links. I will ensure that all IMAGE links are added per the documentation.

    a. Required fields. Is it required to have the following fields filled in before uploading…?
    post_id, post_author, geodir_email

    b. Does GD have a maximum limit on the number or records that can be uploaded? I want to know if I have to increase the mb storage before uploading 3k records.

    3. Is the upload .csv file?

    Thanks a lot

We do recommend to use LibreOffice or OpenOffice instead of Excel.
Do NOT add post ID, that will be automatically created.
You must add user ID, but geodir email is optional.
Loadup limit is determined by the server capacity.
The upload file must be .csv.

    Thanks

    Hi Guust,

    4. Do I delete the 3 records that I manually entered in WordPress Geodirectory before I upload the .csv into WordPress Geodirectory?

    5. You said that I must add the add user ID but there’s field for user ID listed in Geodirectory .csv that I exported. Are you referring to the post_author?

    Thanks

    4. Yes, or you can leave them in toghether with the post ID.

    5. User ID and post_author is the same.

    Thanks

    6. Can I add a geo_linkedin column to the .csv file that I will be uploading/importing to WP admin? I have a list of LinkedIn urls.
    7. Do I need to add post_date before uploading or can I leave this column blank?

    Thanks

If you add a URL custom field for that, then the column will be added to your export file.
    Use that column.

    You can leave that blank.

    Hi,

Will I see the LinkedIn icon and link next to the Twitter and Facebook icons on the details page? If not, will you add the LinkedIn icon in a future release and make it optional?

    Hi serendipity,

Thanks for your reply. The Linkedin icon is already available and you’ll just need to insert the code below into the textbox as shown in the attached screenshot.

    OK, I am reading https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/places/custom/

So, in GD Settings > Custom Field Tabs, I add

    fab fa-linkedin

but in the .csv file, I add a column with geo_linkedin as the heading, correct?

Correct. But the safest way is to export your CVS file after creating the new custom field because that is the only way you can check the correct new column and the order of it.

I have another question relating to uploading my .csv to GeoDirectory. My .csv is a listing of professionals in all cities and states in the USA.

The question refers to the region and city which are required fields in GD > Places > Add Place

I added 3 records to Places and 3 states and 3 cities are included, for example, Santa Monica, California. When I upload the .csv to GeoDirectory, the database be populated with the required region (USA) and all cities, correct? I’m asking because I had to manually enter the region and city in a separate page (not Places page) for each entry and I had to select a default region and city.

    Hello,

When you import listings, yes, you can import address information.
It is recommended that ‘locations’ in the GD Locations tab database not be created manually. Instead, locations should be created when adding listings, whether through import or adding listings directly on the site.
